Very sad news this morning, I used to love Wake up to Wogan on Radio 2 a very funny gentle-man Now when the bardo of dying dawns upon me, I will abandon all grasping, yearning and attachment, Enter undistracted into a clear awareness of the teaching, And eject my consciousness into the space of unborn awareness; As I leave this compound body of flesh and blood I will know it to be a transitory illusion. - Padmasambhava: Tibetan Book of the Dead
The best thing on radio in the late 70s and into the 80s when his star began to fade a bit. He became a parody of himself eventually, trying too hard to be funny. He was a genuine talent of BBC radio and television and his death will be a shock to millions.
I was still listening to him, and enjoying it, right up to his retirement from his morning show. Made the journey to work much more pleasant. RIP.
RIP Sir Terry. I'm a bit young to have listened to his Radio Shows (although I do remember hearing them played on coach trips to various places) but I used to enjoy his commentary on Eurovision when I used to watch it and Children in Need. He always seemed so full of life and never took himself seriously.
