He absolutely tore down that wing towards the half way line with his arms out and, quite definitely, giving the home fans "Have some of that!". It was suggested that he got booed because of the foul he committed just before, but I don't think it was one. George Williams took a throw towards him and he certainly leaned on their defender to make sure he got to it, but there was no fuss by the Swindon players and no foul. After that it took about 3 or 4 touches to get it to Scowen and his cross was immaculate. It looked like a clever dummy from Isgrove before Winnall absolutely lashed it in. Then came his "lap of honour" accompanied by Watkins and Williams, both of whom were giving it to the fans just like the scorer. Great to see. That did not look, to me, like a player on the verge of leaving us. It was an absolutely manic celebration, much more than his usual one. You could see what it meant to him, and the rest of the players, to win that match. We truly have something good building here and it would be a real shame if he left us tomorrow. It hardly needs saying that this is a HUGE week for us now. Nail biting until midnight tomorrow hoping we keep Sam, and hopefully tie down Kevin Long to a season's loan or a permanent signing. Then a cup final prelude to Wembley. Then a nice little fixture next Sunday. Win that and we could be battering the play off doors down some time soon. It looked like a very hard fought win from those highlights but we had loads of chances to win by more than one. It would have been ironic if their substitute number nine (Smith) had supplied the cross at the death to equalise. He had two goes at it but we managed to keep them out and bagged a deserved three points.
Why wouldn't you go nuts either? Last gasp winner to make it 6 wins on the spin, if I was in that team I'd have gone ballistic.
I bet. I wish I had been there. Sat there miserable often enough in the past after yet another defeat at that ground.
Like a bat out of hell. Maybe he had strolled through the previous 88 minutes but he was quick out of the blocks after that goal.
Absolutely love seeing that passion from the players. Just shows what confidence, togetherness and belief can do. The players know we could be on the edge of something very special, just like we do. Fair play to em and long may it continue.
