Would you sell Marc Roberts to sign Kevin Long on a 2 year deal before the window closes? Keeping Nyatanga as the 3rd CB.

Or loan Kevin Long until the end of the season, keeping Robbo. Taking the chance of Long being snapped up by another club in the summer.

This is baring in mind Roberts and Long are the same age ( I put that as without thinking it's easy to presume Roberts is younger).

I'd sign Long if at all possible. Better player than Roberts.

I'd get rid of Nyatanga because he's a clumsy clown. Unfortunately no one in their right mind would pay a fee for Lewin the liability. Roberts can be a beast at times he just needs more consistency. Can't we use some of the Holgate money to get Long in on a permanent.

    Possibility I don't know.

I just thought it would be an interesting scenario as Roberts is a capable and very likeable player.

But Long has been a big part of our upturn in form.

I wouldn't sell somebody just to raise funds to bring a loan signing permanently in.

Long is a far better player than Roberts, I even believe Long could be a top Championship player if he got some consistency together and didn't pick up injuries.

But Roberts is our player and we have to show loyalty to him. We shouldn't have brought Roberts in if he wasn't good enough.

Long has a deceptive turn of pace as well which is like goldust sometimes at the back.

What I've seen of Roberts suggests that he definitely has it in him to be good enough. Looked like an absolute rock in the first two home games of the season, and a pretty skillful rock at that.

This isn't about Roberts not being good enough. He is. He has potential to get a Championship move.

But you said it yourself Long is a much better player at this moment.

It's a tough one. Hopefully we can just have both.

Sometimes, a partnership just clicks. I think Mawson with Long has done exactly that. Although to be fair, I felt Robbo was imperious at Bradford again. And as bad as Lewin has been this season, so were Robbo and Mawson at that time. Who is to say Lewin wouldn't perform better now, in a better performing, more confident side? He's well liked at the club, I like him, I still think he's useful.

To answer the question, I'd retain Long if that's doable. And Robbo, Mawson and Nyatanga.

I doubt that is doable. With Nyatanga having no sale value and being a top earner we can't afford him sitting on the bench or in the stands.

I think it's time for Nyatanga to move on. I find this current injury story a bit suspicious anyway and don't think he is likely to play again for us.

Long and Mawson looks like it will grow better and better, with Roberts as back up and developing slowly as well

I think Burnley really like Long and see a future for him at Turf Moor. Best we can hope for is to extend the loan to the end of the season...

I have a feeling Nyatanga will be gone tomorrow. I like him but never rated him highly. Would rather have Robbo, Long and Mawson.

Cant understand this wi Nyatanga. Is he the only defender to have fecked up on occasions this season or is he just carrying the can. Some would have us weaken the squad just to get rid of him.

You dont have your highest paid player at on the bench.

He's not. He's been injured for a few weeks, still is. And how do you know his earnings (and the rest of the squads?).

He'll be on the bench at best when he's back fit.

He was back in training today.

Come on Whitey he's clearly one of our highest paid players. Its like the Turnbull situation. Were his wages worth having him on the bench? No. Same with Lewin for me.

He'll be on the bench because the other lads have been doing well. But there may well come a time where that changes and he'll be given a chance. Rather that than get rid now, leaving us very short in that area. In the summer I'm sure his role will be reassessed.

As for his wages, I'm not privy to that sort of information.
