Well if Lee goes he goes. It's happened before & it will happen again. We have seen both sides of the coin with Lee, good side & the bad side of his management ability. On to the game last night, great game to watch on sky with plenty of praise coming from Garry Birtles on the way the both teams played football. Well done for getting to Wembley lads & keep up this great run.
A month ago, most fans expected he'd be getting the sack and we'd have another sizeable pay off to fund. A month later and it looks like he'll be going of his own accord to and we should get some decent compensation. I think he should go too, he has no loyalty to Barnsley as a place or club, maybe some personal loyalty to Cryne for not sacking him when he should, but when a bigger club and more money are on offer, you take it as a manager. He seems a decent bloke, can't say i'll miss him greatly and don't think he'll be too hard to replace. The upturn has been more down to the form of hourihane, winnall and hammill and a bit of stability from long as a centre back. Whoever comes in would surely continue in the same vein.
That improvement in Hourihane, Winnall could be down to good coaching. When Long leaves it will weaken us at the back. We will have to rely on Roberts stepping up, Lewin doesnt fill me with any confidence. I beieve we still need an able experienced Centre half. I think that it will be likely that Lee will go, as for replacing him I would give Mark Burton the opportunity. We still have a shout a making the playoffs. I think the statement put out indicates that we will recruit from within. The last thing we need to do is rush in and change the diredtion and structure that we seem to have created.
It could be down to good coaching... but you have to ask, why did their form dip so badly earlier in the season compared to their previous performances? Few of us are party to what goes on, so hard to say if bad coaching hindered initially or good coaching improved latterly. Yesterdays performance was streets ahead to what we had back end of last season and beginning of this. Midfield especially has a better shape than it had and think Brownhill is a much better fit than Pearson.
