For ****ing hell's sake. club statement http://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/article/club-statement-lee-johnson-2939404.aspx
Gutted. I was just thinking last night how much I like Johnson, the way he presents himself and how measured he is.
Statement reads to me : "If he goes it dunt matter" Interesting to see where Winnall, Hourihane and Hamill are next season
What a $hit club statement that is. Basically, if you want to go, go. Nothing there to suggest they're even trying to keep him Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not fussed if he goes. I don't think he's that good, and he has absolutely no loyalty. We can do better. Any other manager would have got the bullet after Altrincham. Our next appointment will know he has time and patience on his side.
It's meant to be reassuring to fans and it kind of is, but it also kind of says the head coach is simply a small and easily replaceable cog in the machine. I'd argue the head coach is a bit more than that. Also, even if I wanted to put that information out, I would have waited until after Johnson has confirmed he's going to leave. If I was the Bristol City chairman and I was having talks with Johnson this morning, I'd just show him that statement and tell him he'd be valued a lot more at Bristol.
So we appointed a head coach to makes it easier when a head coach leaves. Yet then don't sack the head coach because we need stability. But then it doesn't matter when the head coach leaves because it won't make any difference? I'm being facetious but it is a bizarre statement, little bit of an attempt to retrospectively try and justify the whole head coach thing by the club
Just as long as we get good compo we move on. When was last time someone actually wanted one of our managers and we didn't have to sack them
Why would we try and keep him? 8 defeats on the spin and Patrick stands by him. Johnson has the loyalty of a **** house rat. I'd be absolutely gutted if I were Cryne.
I don't get this. The club backed the manager during the teams worst run in living memory. We have now lost just once in twelve games, got to a cup final and within a sniff of the playoffs and the club don't put up a fight to stop him talking to another club. What am I missing here?
He's a fool if he goes in my opinion. Why walk out on a half finished job, trip to wembley and possible play offs if the form keeps up. If he leaves it would be quite funny to see the 2 sides swap divisions for next season...
That, basically. 'I am too nice to sack a $hit manager at Christmas.' Six weeks later, he's gone. That's football. We knew he'd do it, because he couldn't wait to get out of LOLdham, but still.
It is weird, I wonder if it's aimed at Johnson if he's thrown his teddy out of the pram and demanded the move. "Well **** off then, we won't miss you". Still weird though.
I'd love for Johnson to say that he'll repay the loyalty that was shown to him by the club when we lost 8 in a row.
I would be a bit disappointed in the man if he goes. People at the club showed loyalty when things were bad and could have sacked him with a cv that was pretty dismal. Instead they supported him and brought about the success we are enjoying at present. "Biting the hand that feeds you" springs to mind. If we constantly say there is no loyalty in football then we made a mistake in showing him some.
