I have read it, and it's spun in a new labour style to make it sound like it will have no effect. It's a crock of *****.
I think its very good. Exactly how a good football club should be run and how it works at Southampton and Swansea.
To me it reads like they are p*ssed off that one of the only memorable (for the right reasons) occasions the club has had in several years is immediately followed by them having to justify the 'Head Coach' wanting to speak to another club. Particularly given the faith they have shown in him. Don't blame them to be honest...
As I put in another thread it reads to me that Patrick Cryne is really pissed off after the loyalty he showed Johnson,
To me it reads like the club are trying to provide reassurance to the fans about the impact of the Head Coach leaving (if he does). After all the threads I've read on here demanding statements about this, that and the other (far less significant) things I think the club are to be commended for putting something out. The vitriol that would be on here once gossip emerged that Johnson was talking to Bristol City and the club hadn't said anything would be of major proportions. The wording of the statement says Johnson has been given permission to speak to Bristol city. Whether this was because he asked for it or whether Bristol asked permission to speak to him is not necessarioyl clear. However I'll wait and see what develops before becoming depressed or elated.
Strange isn't it, only a few weeks ago everyone wanted shut and now he could be going they're up in arms. The club made the statement for a reason and it will all come out why in good time I'm sure
It requires no comment or reasoning, it is self-evident and put's the case for it's own w@nkness more eloquently than I possibly could. It is belated self justification for the daft "head coach" thing combined with an attempt at damage limitation to say that it doesn't matter that much. I have a question for you. When we try and attract a new pseudo-manager, do you think that this statement that our Head coach is not an autonomous, significant role or a figurehead but in fact a small cog in a large machine will be helpful then? It's an absolute bag of nails.
Who's up in arms? I don't blame anyone for him going, that's the nature of all jobs, I just think it's a preposterous self-justifying statement. Is that alright?
Says hes very happy with players the club and Fans .So that may be the deciding factor in him staying . Need clarification before Sunday. Because we want to celebrate our trip to Wembley and not have it tainted by not knowing if Lee is staying or not.Could make Sunday a negative rather than a possitive with the lift that OUR CLUB needs.
