Am I the only one who won't be bothered if LJ goes?

People are getting carried away by the current run of form, but he still hasn't done enough to convince me that he's the right man for us longer-term. However, he'd at least earned himself the right to see out the season, given that the impending transfer window was the main factor to bring a new face in when things were looking dire a few weeks ago.

However, surely this is a win-win for us. If he goes, it's LJ's own decision and it will speak volumes as to his individual loyalty to the Board who kept him in a job when others would have fired him. However, we'll now be entitled to receive compensation for him compared to paying up the balance of a 3 year contract as was the (apparent) major issue a few weeks ago.

In my opinion, we're now in a position to get paid to release a manager (head coach, whatever) that I'm still not convinced by.

Que sera sera. If he stays, then nothing really changes for us. If he goes, then we get an escape we never envisaged from a poorly conceived contract that we offered less than 12 months ago.

The only surprise in all this is that Bristol City want him so badly. LJ is now the new Michael Appleton, it seems.

Found a few posts to that effect further down now. I think they'd been buried by all the threads along the lines of it being the worst news ever.

Have to be honest and say I can't think of one instance under LJ where I've thought "that was a touch of managerial genius". On the contrary it was when he stopped trying to be clever and went back to basics that we prospered

My biggest worries but be a loss of momentum on this great run or us appointing some berk who'll mess things up

i'm definitely bothered, but time's a healer. if the new man comes in and kicks on, it will be yesterday's news. if he doesn't, i imagine many will feel like we're back to square one.

    Not bothered.

We were dog-5hit until the signing of Hammill. Boring, losing football, with the manager resistant to change.

I would have sacked him after losing to Fleetwood at home. Never mind Altrincham.

He's done very well to lift us out of trouble - but his negativity put us there in the first place.

The board have played a blinder here. They didn't sack him when they should have, presumably because we cocked up and couldn't afford to, then LeeJay got lucky when going back to basics and now he's hot property. Now **** off LeeJay, thanks for earning us a bit of money for you.

Not particularly bothered either way. We are mid table in division 3 as we were a year ago so I see little progress. And I think there is now a structure put in place to minimise disruption. Our favoured candidate from a year ago would probably jump at the chance. We could possibly use any spare compensation money to convince Hamill to stay.

The reason he hasn't yet done enough to convince you is probably down to the fact that he's been here 2 minutes. It's something we'll only know with hindsight but,he could be the best manager we've had since Wilson(part I). The bloke needs applauding for the way he handled/conducted himself during our poor run & he came out the other side. Whether it's with us or Brizzle I wish the bloke well in whatever he chooses. He's given me the chance to take my young lad to watch his team at Wembley (something that clubs like Ours have to take with both hands when the chance comes). LJ put the JPT high up on his list when 99% of our fans couldn't give a toss about it.
My only hope is that whatever happens,it doesn't ruin our playoff push

Not bothered in the slightest. I was one of the group who definitely wanted him gone late last year. For whatever reason, that didn't happen and in the last few weeks it is true to say that we have turned the ship around to an unbelievable degree. Because of that, I have kept my gob shut and would be quite happy to see him stay for the remainder of the season and see how things pan out. If he talks to Bristol, decides it is not for him and stays here, then fine, no problem with that from me.

But I remain unconvinced that the greater share of the credit for our upturn in fortunes should go to LJ. He spent the whole first half of the season serving up total dogshit whilst tinkering with systems that your average Joe could see weren't going to work. He then had the massive good fortune to have a player knock on his door and beg for a chance because he needs a break back into the game, and we now have a player in Hammill who is clearly playing in the wrong league. LJ had no choice but to change back to basics to accommodate Hammill and it has worked. In no small part, that is due to the boost that having a superior player like Hammill in the side will bring to the confidence of the others.

If we had not signed Hammill I believe there is every chance we would still be in the bottom 4. He has easily been worth 10 points to us since he signed.

If LJ goes then I expect him to treat the championship like it was Serie A, and BCFC like they are Real Madrid. And I expect them to be relegated whilst waiting for him to find a system that works.

If he stays, fine. If he goes, meh.
