I think we could be onto something with looking to promote within. Remember the old Liverpool bootroom philosophy of always promoting from within, well we could feasibly build something similar. What guys like Hecky, Burton, Hassell and Devaney all have in common is a genuine and long standing association with the club and the area. None of them would see the job as a stepping stone to bigger things which is what I think Johnson saw us as. I also have a gut feel that the recent upturn in form had little to do with LJ, I think others have started pulling the strings on the training ground. I also think there are others who could be recruited who could offer similar affinity to the club, I am thinking of the likes of Hignett and Taggart. Are these guys all experienced and could we expect things to go well all the time, well clearly no but I like the idea of a core set of coaches giving everything they have got for the club.
My thoughts exactly. It's the only way. Managers have a 2 year shelf life max.if they do well they will be poached by a bigger club.if results are crap they will get sacked and you are left with their players.need someone to identify god affordable players and someone to coach them along with our own good young uns.does not need to be the one man.we may already have those people in place already. It sound like a plan to me though there'd need to be a first among equals. Hassell for me. Roughly same age as Johnson? Twice the man.
Completely agree with all of that with the exception of one point Moving to Bristol city is not exactly a step.up to a bigger club Also, with our luck he'll turn them down
