I suppose opinions differ and some might see a few of these as unrealistic but I just mean the likes of Monk and Sherwood being two examples that are just never going to happen.

Tried to put a fair few in to create a bit of a discussion and ones that have managed close to this level and championship at the highest. I don't know who I want personally, yet.

    Neil Adams
    Ian Holloway
    Lee Clark
    Chris Powell
    Steve Cotterill
    Teddy Sheringham
    Mark Cooper
    Mark Robins
    Terry Butcher
    Russ Wilcox
    James Beattie
    Steve Davis
    Chris Wilder
    Darrell Clarke
    Gareth Ainsworth

I've probably missed a few but i'm going to put a few controversial ones in now.

    Keith Hill?
    David Flitcroft?
    Paulo Di Canio?

A few recently retired players, a few older heads but all I feel wouldn't be too unrealistic. Obviously another option is promote from within.

There's two i'd be happy with.

Powell and Gray. And I probably won't get my wish.

Uwe Rosler or Mark Cooper. Steve Davis at a push.

    The rest are largely tossers.

Ian Holloway would obviously be the best candidate out of that lot. Coming off of a failure at Millwall, he'd put himself back in the shop window by taking us up. And he has had two teams promoted to the Premiership. I wouldn't mind swapping Johnson for him at all.

Doesn't matter does it? "we believe that the structures that we now have in place must be the key to our future success rather than dependence on a single individual." Get yourself a UEFA A licence and you could do it. Lewis for manager is my vote.

Holloway is either amazing (Blackpool, Plymouth) or bloody awful (Leicester, Millwall.)

Palace I don't really count, because he had a reight side there. Speroni, Zaha, and Murray amongst others.

actually probably a good shout at league 1. don't think he's up to much after that though. the game at champ level an above has moved on but he doesn't seem to have. would be a reyt laugh though. i don't think he'd wear our structures though..

Bloody expensive isn't it. Just had a look. "I'd love to be the Barnsley manager, but I can't afford it."

Don't Powell and Hammill not get on?

Holloway for me, for the comedy value.

I have my FA Level One if that qualifies? Even that was a few hundred quid, not expensive I know but it's close to 7.5k for the top one. Need wonga.com to fund it.

Also on the topic of Holloway when he was in charge of Blackpool and on a tighter budget when he went up to the Premiership weren't he playing an attacking 4-4-2 and outscoring everyone?

He was very close to staying in the Premiership too if I remember right.

Ainsworth isn't unemployed is he? I reckon he'd be well worth a look - worked miracles at Wycombe on low budget and will have an intimate knowledge of league 2, which will fit with what the board wants in terms of recruitment. Another young manager with lots of potential.

Only problem I can see is that he appears to be on a massively long contract so we could end up blowing our compensation money if that's the way we wanted to go.

Steve Davis or Stuart Gray. Both done fantastic jobs , Davis has done very well at Crewe, Gray did a great job at Wednesday and I think he was shafted there.
