The length of the contract and whether it's for a fixed period or rolling is of no consequence when dismissing the manager. If we had dismissed Johnson after or during the 8 match losing run, we would not have had to pay up the remainder of the contract. Within his contract it will be stated how much compensation he receives should we dismiss him. Just as it is stated how much we receive should another club tempt him away. This is standard practice these days and Ben Mansford has spoken of it specifically in relation to the contracts of Barnsley managers. That amount is obviously up for negotiation before the manager signs it, but it makes no difference what type of contract it is or for how long. A manager on a rolling contract may have a bigger pay off than a manager on a three year contract and vice versa.

To be fair the concept of transfer fees and restrictive contracts are pretty wrong and borderline illegal. There's a couple of interesting cases coming up in this area which I suspect will bring them more into line with the real world.

I'll take your word for it. Not seen the terms of his contract so I don't know

    I agree.

    It's definitely coming.

Possibly another excuse to demand yet more than what they are already paid.

I can foresee so much trouble with it though.

Being tapped up. Suddenly start being ****. Releived of duties via notice period and off to the next club for nowt.

Death of lower league clubs beckons

Have you seen the size of him; I don't think you'd need the boys with you. :)

On that note, best quote I saw on twitter about LJ:

Johnson is apparently 1/10 according to the bookies. Surely not right, he's at least 4' 2''
