Why are 'Disabled and Visually Impaired Supporters' discriminated against and not allowed to buy tickets through Ticketmaster like everyone else? The terminology used by the Club - 'Disabled, visually impaired tickets, and wheelchair disabled tickets must be purchased directly from the club' is anomalous. Tickets are tickets, it's the person who is disabled not the ticket. Everyone should have the opportunity to buy tickets by direct contact with Ticketmaster but the club should make provision for those who for whatever reason can't use that facility to buy tickets at the club.
Presumably because the system is not set up to cater for disabled season ticket holders who would presumably want priority? I'm guessing here BTW
The system can be set up for anything if there's the will to do it. A couple of seasons ago they added Supporters Trust members to the same system so they could claim a £5 ticket discount every home game. A mate in the supporters trust got us both tickets regularly via this method in the last half of the 2013/14 season. On one occasion he let me use his login details to book tickets when he wasn't able to attend as well.
If that is true, then I suspect Ticketmaster and NOT BFC are possibly in breach of discrimination laws. Disabled users should have by law access to websites/phone contact numbers that can handle partially sighted or blind users via a variety of accessibility software tools e.g. JAWS, braille readers etc. in the same way that shops and workplaces must provide disabled access via ramps etc. People with mobility issues should also have th same point of access as able bodied.
Didn't Ben Mansford mention something along the lines of these can be individually looked at by the club, whereas there's no facility to do this on line. Perhaps there's the differing levels and types of disabilities and then there's the carers?
Ok been talking to the club and the reason that disabled fans have to get their tickets from the box office is as follows: In order for supporters to purchase disabled tickets and have a complimentary carer they must be in receipt of the middle-higher rate of DLA carer or mobility allowance or the PIP equivalent. It is not possible for this documentation to be checked via an automated online or call centre system so we will issue all tickets ourselves. At the pre-final football league meeting they advised us to issue all the disabled tickets. Oxford are also doing this. Coming back to the wording as mentioned elsewhere it has been taken from Wembley and the football league. If you think that this needs addressing it might be worth getting Level Playing Field's and the FSFs view on this? We have our own representatives of these organisations within the Trust so I can do that if you like.
Boo! That's just an excuse, sack Mansford! Is there anything else folk can find fault with? If Sam Winnall hand delivered every Barnsley fan a complimentary ticket, free coach ticket and a Toblerone there'd be people moaning that he turned up five minutes late or the club were discriminating against diabetics.
Is this true as my boy is on middle rate care component of dla but previously I was told for free tickets he had to be on the highest rate of dla.
As long as it's the dark chocolate toblerone diabetics should be alright , what time is Sam coming round http://www2.hull.ac.uk/news-and-eve...rchive/oct/darkchocolategoodfordiabetics.aspx
Wembley seem to have different concession criteria to BFC , for instance you can get an OAP discount at 60 yrs as opposed to 65 at Oakwell maybe it's the for the disabled
