Why are people so harsh on him and his time here? Yes Steele was the better keeper but Ben did a good solid job while he was out. He had one dodgy game against Forest but apart from that he didn't put a foot wrong.

He got some stick after the Rochdale game but other than that I don't remember him getting many pelters on here.

Good goalkeeper. Without trying to upset some on here people where up Steeles arse. See his team in Greece are doing so well with him in net lol.

Saying that they are probley the same people that said Steele was better than just about the best English goalkeeper around at the moment imo, Jack Butland.

I've noticed a few derogatory comments recently and he got loads of undeserved stick at the time. This is just something that has always baffled me.

That's a good way not to upset some on here Phil. Steele was a very good keeper.

LOL. Jack Butlands a very good goalkeeper and thats why hes been talked up to be the next big goalkeeper for England. Why all the big teams in England are looking at him.

Luke Steele isn't any of that in simple terms. About 15th choice goalkeeper at National level at best.

Hang on so you now think that out of the roughly 40-50 MILLION English males on this planet Luke Steel is the 15th best at stopping balls from going into a football net?
On this entire planet you now accept that Luke Steel is the 15th best at being a goalkeeper?

Remind me again why you mock him so much

Let one under his body vs Ipswich too didn't he? Plus the general numptiness of getting sent off vs. Rochdale. Definitely didn't pull up many trees

For England. That isn't a good thing. Lol remember when people on here were calling for him to be called up. People actually thought a goalkeeper of Steeles ability would be.

Now hes playing in front of 2 men and a dog every other week whilst Butland plays at some of the best grounds in England every other week.

What he did in the last minute at Rochdale in that League Cup game a few years ago was absolutely ridiculous. He's a nob head

Ffs Phil, why does Butland being a very good keeper make Luke crap? Luke was a championship keeper with limitations but he was a very good keeper at that level.

What on earth are you talking about?

At the time some people felt Steele might be lucky enough to get in a squad or two bearing in mind that several championship keepers had call ups as third choice goalie.

Butland was young & had a lot to learn & was nowhere near as good as he is now. He's now almost the finished article and is rightly in England squads.

I loved Luke Steele. A great keeper at Championship level who would walk back into our side now with ease.

He was never going to be good enough for England. His kicking was poor and he was sometimes weak on crosses, but I have no doubt we'd have been relegated a few years sooner had it not been for his countless man of the match displays.

    Oakwell legend is our Luke.
