Yep, but any criticism of Davies for 2nd goal is rather harsh imo.

I think it was weak goal keeping. Harsh possibly

Imagine the abuse Digby would get for 2 mistakes similar to Bree. Just a thought...

If you want youngsters to develop then you have to let them make mistakes.

It's no wonder managers are hesitant to play young players when fans expect instant polished displays from 18 year olds!

    I genuinely can't remember this?

The thing that shocked me about Stones coming through is that he seemed to me anyway as been incapable of making mistakes.

Then came back in and was great again. Im sure flitcroft mentioned talked about it at the time. Lol sure i havent dreamt it :)

James Bree's all round game is fantastic. But he is young and us going to make the occasional mistake, I'm just surprised at how forgiving the BBS is actually being considering some of the quotes about other young players in the squad this season.

Let him get them out of his system now, and hopefully next season, he'll have learned from them and will be able to cement that place as his own.

The foul on Hammill was as blatant as anything, now I've watched it 3 or 4 times. The first time I'd watched it, I hadn't read the comments about them being lucky to get away with it; on first viewing I almost missed it, it looked a coming together that Hammill reacted to. I think the referee can be forgiven for not giving a red considering h gets one look at it. On first viewing I thought he got it spot on. It's only after the 3rd attempt that I realised their lad took a massive swing at Adams legs.

Credit to Hourihane for that instinctive finish. That demonstrates his good footballing brain to try something like that. It seems that he didn't get the best contact on it but he caught the keeper completely by surprise.

The winning goal, Davies has to make some sort of save, if he doesn't there's a chance that he cross is creeping into the far corner. From such a close range, it is difficult for him to make a comfortable stop and he has to parry. His defence should be on hand to sweep up. Seemingly both Mawson and Hourihane are closer to the ball than Dack when Davies makes the save. Yet both are very slow to react.

I'll reserve judgement because I've not read anything from anyone who was at the game, and I didn't listen to the commentary. But it was our first defeat in 9 games, it was going to come eventually, it might as well be away to 2nd in the league, in a game where we seemingly gave them 2 goals and got a little unfortunate with decisions.

Agree, although thought his positioning for first could have been better.

No, he's a footballing defender, he should be allowed to make mistakes. He'll improve his judgement if we allow him to develop. If he's instructed to lump it up the park he'll not develop. Mistakes happen, I'm over it.

    Can't help thinking

that had it been a Barnsley player hacking down Gillingham's best player, he would have been off.
