    Not in the greatest of health, receiving regular hospital treatment for conditions relating to his playing days. Would be nice if two clubs he gave sterling service to got together and invited him to Wembley.

    He was an excellent centre back for both clubs, I remember many conversations about him with a work colleague who is from Oxford. Certainly one of my favourites at the time.

    One of my favourite characters. Yes he had broken his toe and only played due to injuries.

    as hard as nails : a proper defender that was respected in the game :players were scared stiff of Captain Shotton,the broken toe tale is true and it is proper that both clubs show warmth for him on 3rd April.
    He has a velvet tongue and sold a mate of mine a Toyota when he only went in the use the bog.Luvvley Man
