    Why?

I'd sooner have someone in the mould of Long, Ramage, to help the young players we already have in the team. We need a leader at the back, not another young kid.[/QUOTE]

Mattew Pennington, Everton centre back. played in their u21's last few games. 22 year old. Coventry young player of the year in 2014/2015

Well now I've read it. So not quite 10 times but the entire first half of his post is dedicated to criticising Sam Winsteiger

There was no power on the Winnall header in the second half because the cross was from the weaker, left foot of George Williams and there was no power on the cross. Me & my mate both said he couldn't have done anything more with it due to how slow the cross came to him.

Unfair to criticise him for that one. Even quality headers of the ball like Drogba, Shearer & Viduka wouldn't have got power on that one

Roberts needs to improve but he's still adjusting to football at this level. I bet he's only had about a dozen games.

He deserves time. You can see there's a lot of raw talent in there.

last 1/3 of the season isn't to do that Django. A good Feb and we could be looking at a play off chance come May.

With both Roberts and Bree, I'd stick with them both. We did keep a clean sheet. Both are young, have little league experience and will perform with inconsistency. Let them get the experience with us. The back four that finished yesterday are all young and whilst I'd have Long back tomorrow, if we can't get a reasonably experienced replacement for him, then play our inexperienced players rather than a PL clubs for me.

Doncaster's chances, the few that they did create, came from out wide and I thought our centre halves gave their strikers nothing. The only shot I can remember Davies saving came from their right wing-back in the second half.

As for Winnall, quiet afternoon, but teams will target him given his scoring record. That's when others have to step up. And we now have a team that can. Winnall would always be in my starting 11.

I won't bother debating your points on Sam Winnall. You can deny it all you want, but it's as clear as my forehead that he's replaced Bobby Hassell in your affections.

I wouldn't be loaning a young kid from the Premier League at this stage either. Marc Roberts will only improve with more games at this level. Same goes for Bree. I rate them both. They formed part of a unit yesterday who kept a clean sheet. Should do them both good.
I really liked Kevin Long, and he had some great strengths. But he was hardly Lucio or Beckenbauer at centre half was he? He loved finding the East Stand. He had a few dodgy appearances initially for us. But he settled down, grew into it with games. I'm sure Hecky will be willing to allow Robbo that same time to adjust/learn/grow.

Our success rate when loaning really young Prem players must be appalling, by the way. We seem much more successful when recruiting unknown lads from beneath us. Your Scowen's, Hourihane's, Mawson's, Watkins and Winnall's of this world (Keith Hill-ism, there).

I'm in a good place right now. I'm happy to see what materialises. We looked on course for a nightmare campaign just a couple of months ago, I actually felt as low as I ever have as a reds supporter. So I'd accept this season if it ended tomorrow. 10th and a Wembley visit. Like I say, considering what came before. As it is, we could quite easily be back at Wembley in May. Which'd be nice. But not for my wallet.

That's fine Andy, For me we've got a chance to improve the squad and they should look to do it. Noticed Dyson's got concerns also about him.

For me you fix the weak spots and see where we are in May.

Don't see what we would reap sending him out on loan at this late stage of season. Only way he will improve is by playing 1st team football for us. Yes he makes mistakes, as does Mawson, Bree, White, Hourihane, Isgrove, Hammill, Davies, Watkins, Winnall, Brownhiol, Scowen, Fletcher. The lads learning as are all the team. Yes my view is impartial just not full of **** like yours

yes but all those you mention have the basics Springvale. Johnson mentioned early on in the season he had non league in him and anyone that watches him can see it.

Hes awful on the ball. He tried to pass the ball to Bree and i would expect anyone in the u16's to make the pass never mind a first team player.

He needs to go play games and make mistakes learning how to do this because if he doesn't soon he'll be back with Halifax or another non league team.

A player I mentioned the other day rather than this thread starts for Man City today but I bet you would rather have peter ''hoof' Ramage because hes experienced, right?

If they feel they need to, then fine. But you gave your opinion, I've given mine. At this stage of the season the only recruiting I'd be looking to do would be in a real emergency or if a laiker of real quality popped up, as it did with Hammill.

Smith, Williams, Dolan and Templeton can all play left back. I'd leave it alone.

Bree hasn't got much competition at right back, but I wouldn't bother adding another right back until the summer. You watch the under 18's etc, have we any other right backs pushing on?

Roberts, Mawson, Nyatanga and Cowgill should be adequate until the summer. Unless as I say we can add someone of proper quality. I don't see an under 18 lad from the Prem being a good idea at this stage. And, part of me doesn't want someone coming in now and getting a Wembley appearance undeservedly.

And Dyson agreeing with you only firms up my own opinion.
