I didnt rate Hourihane as highly as other did because I saw he had a lot to improve. To be fair to him he has improved. Hence I no longer knock him.

We've never won anything in my lifetime

I've been watching the reds for over 50 years and in all that time we've never been first in anything.
The JPT or to give it its proper name, the "Football League Trophy" is for the 48 traditional football teams not pampered or corrupted by Sky and to win it will be a tremendous achievement.
The last time we actually won anything was the Division 3 North Trophy in 1955 - well before most of our current fans started watching Barnsley.
So why on earth do people not want to see us lift the trophy and prefer to boycott it on the off chance we might finish 6th and make the play-offs? We have a realistic chance of winning it and it could well be the one and only chance in our lifetime to see it done.

I'm agree with Jay. It doesn't compute for me either.

As for the 'embarrassing' to be in the JPT?!? We have to be. It's league rules. We're a L1 club. It's compulsory to enter. If it's that Embarassing ten don't go to any league games in L1. That's the sole reason we're in the competition. Each to their own like, but I'll be there with Juddy G, our kids and the Athersley Reds.

    Oh it's my birthday aswell!

Re: We've never won anything in my lifetime

Not the times or anything but i've been saying that for a while now.

Also this will be the first time Barnsley Football Club will go to the final at Wembley and hopefully win it. That's new for the Football Club not just us watch now.

This might sound crazy to some people but when Barnsley got drawn against York I was at a u18 game and I said to the people around me, look at how many games there are, Barnsley could win this.

Every round since i've been hoping they get through. We've played our fair share of Good teams. All but one a league one team I believe including Bradford and Wigan away.

Id much rather watch the side on a cold saturday afternoon at places like the Bescot and Spotland than be surrounded by the jolly come latelys at Wembley.

You wanted the club to flog him after scoring and creating a ridiculous amount of goals in a debut season where he won the award for best player at the club. You don't have any interest in watching your little club (that's what we are in the grand scheme) contest a trophy at the home of football.

It's a rather unique stance, I'll give you that. Like the three legged man.

I've got an 8 year old who has been going to Oakwell for 3 years now. Wild horses couldn't keep him away from Wembley.

Since he got his season ticket he's been a mascot (walked out with Winnall when we played Sheffield Utd) and won a ball signed by the entire team. Now he's getting to watch his team win the JPT at the home of English football.

He honestly thinks Barnsley have every chance of qualifying for the next World Cup.

So now it's coz of the johnnys? Like I said it just doesn't compute with me. I am like you though in some respects, I love the old school grounds. But I still look at a Wembley date watching my team as a 'reward' for enduring decades of visiting such holes!

Would you go if you were surrounded by just die hards?

As I live in Mexico City I can't go but if I still lived in London or Barnsley then I would most definitely.
I've been supporting Barnsley since 1992 and in that time they have played at the national stadium including Millenium stadium only 3 times. 3 times in 24 years.
Yes its only the JPT but its one of the most famous stadiums in the world. Our little town in the biggest of arenas. The players are representing us but also our town, our history, and themselves. A chance to win silverware does not come very often and to miss out for the sake of 4 quid from some overzealous booking company is wrong in my eyes. It may not happen again for another 20 years.

I don't think anyone's going to criticise you for not being able to afford it, mate. Football's far too expensive.

We can criticise him for using "your" instead of "you're" though :D

Me both and wanted us to win both ( though we were always *****). I've wanted us to take this competition seriously since we got relegated and am glad we have.

dont care if its mickey mouse cup or whatever, in 45 years of supporting the super reds i never ever thought i would see my team at wembley and it would always be oh we won the fa cup in 1912 era but now i will have been there twice in 8 years would have been 3 but work got in the way, i cant wait to be at the stadium along with real fans and hangers on going to be a great day win or lose (hopefully win). to see Johnstone Paint Trophy Winners 2016 alongside that Fa Cup win on the history of the club will look good and maybe if there is a god Play Off Winners too #keepthefaith

Yes, went to most, if not all, the home ties and a couple of the away games. The victory at Sheffield Wednesday being the highlight.

No I'm not going - cos I have had my interest in Barnsley Football Club severely tested this season with all the shenanigans.

Its been a very disappointing season.......hopefully they can salvage something in the last few matches to get us into the play-offs.

And..........Im not that bothered about the Trophy.

But, you have to take your hat off to those that are going........so good look to all those that are making the effort.

My first ever away game, that. I think I've only seen us win at Hillsborough the once since, when JCR scored.

The reason I asked about the ZDS & AIC was back then Wembley was a million miles away to a club like us and we would have been ecstatic to get there then as we are now it's Wembley for chuffs sake !
Would the same folk be saying they wouldn't go to The Charity Sheild match if we played in that because that's just a friendly really
