Didn't realise until today that it goes to extra time rather than straight to pens if level after 90 mins. Got train tickets a few weeks ago without realising this and I'm now hoping it's 3-0 to us after half an hour so I can relax a bit! Train leaves St Pancras at 1835 so I'm not sure how feasible it will be if the game goes all the way. Wondering whether to cut my losses and get some extra tickets now or take the gamble and potentially have to pay mad prices for tickets on the day. Hmm...
The odds of it going that far are slim. And the odds of you getting your ticket checked on the way back outside of first class is also slim.
even if it does go to extra time and penalties it will be all over by around 17:30ish gives you a good hour to get your train....np.
Haha mates have mad same potential mistake unlike myself who's booked the 9:35pm train back, plenty of celebrating time in that there London then
Don't worry a lad is running a few buses and has stated there should be a few spaces available for anyone who has this problem. He's more than happy to accommodate anyone after the game for a small fee of course.
Yeah, I'm leaning towards the 'take a gamble' and hope it works out option. Obviously there's getting out the ground and all that to factor in. Be reyt won't it!
perhaps think about a taxi after the game how many in your group.... could be an option just in case. TBH I have a feeling it will be over after 90 mins and certainly after extra time ... I just do not see penalties.
I do not think it will be an easy game TBH I think Oxford will be coming to win the cup too, and will not be believing they cannot either... I hope our lads do not go into the game with a "just turn up and its ours" attitude... if so we will be in for a shock. I really hope we win this cup unlike a lot on here I seriously think its very worthwhile ... I do not think its a pointless cup competition. Its a very good looking trophy, its a day at Wembley, its on the TV, its a cash builder for the club and a morale/confidence builder for the team.... anyone who says its pointless really needs to re-think that attitude.
I was making a mental note at the times on yesterdays match at Wembley and from kickoff to when the trophy was handed over, was a couple of minutes short of 3 hours. Our match kicks of 14:30 so with extra time and penalties, that would make it 17:30. Then you'd be leaving before the players paraded around ground with the trophy Reading other Wembley events and it can take 45 mins to get 'on' a tube, which once your on takes 25 mins to get to Kings Cross / St Pancras. They hold the crowds outside the subway and only let in a train full at a time. The come every 5 mins. So it's very stop / start. The overground train takes 19 minutes but only leave every 30 mins, unless they put extra trains on. A taxi would take 20 mins and cost you £45 - Uber Taxi at moment is £23 but they put the prices up when there's more demand. I was stressing out thinking how to get for the 20:35 train from Kings Cross. Better hope we get the job done in 90mins, or you could leave at half time if we were 4-0 down :nails:
Oxford have looked decent under Appleton. Kemar Roofe has an eye for goal and I'm sure our lads won't be taking owt for granted.
If you have a ticket booked, it's valid for the same train later in the day. This is what I was told by a conductor when I was on my way back from Manchester airport once. He charged me again because I'd caught an earlier train than the one I'd booked and said had I been delayed, my train ticket would have been valid for the rest of the day. Sent from my I-Oven using the internets
Cheers for that summary. That's pretty useful. I suppose a taxi might not be a bad idea if that's feasible.
That would be great but I'm really not sure about that. Maybe he was a rogue conductor! I'll double check this though so cheers for another potential option.
Who is it with? With Virgin East Coast you can change your booking for £10 per ticket plus any difference in price. https://www.virgintrainseastcoast.com/customer-service/change-ticket/
https://www.virgintrainseastcoast.com/rail-travel/your-ticket/train-ticket-options/advance-tickets/ When can you use an Advance ticket? You can only travel on the date, time and trains you select when you book Advance tickets can’t be transferred unfortunately, so if you miss your train you'll need to buy a new ticket If there’s a delay, and you miss a connection, you can take the next available train
Cheers. Yeah, just checking the terms etc on Red Spotted Hanky where I bought the tickets. Seems I can change them by paying £10 admin charge per ticket plus the different in price between tickets. I might do it just to make sure (and then moan when we go 3-0 down within half an hour).
If your going to rebook and haven't already got one, may be worth looking at a '2 together railcard' - Costs £30 but would reduce price of 2 adults return from £184 to £121.40 so it pays for itself in that one journey. It's valid for a year. I bought a 'Friends and Family' railcard which reduced my fair by £60 as well (2 Adults, 3 kids £145)
Thanks for the tip. That's something to consider if needed. As it is, it looks as though the 2040 train is the same price as the one I've currently got tickets for. I think that would mean just 2 x £10 admin charge to change tickets. I think so anyway!
