I have followed Barnsley home and away for more than 50 years but at Crewe on Saturday I saw something I have never seen at another football game. The Players came out as usual at the beginning of the game and did the usual pre-match handshakes with the Crewe players. After that rather than go and do the usual kick about the whole team came over to where we were sat and applauded the fans. I know this usually happens after the game. I have though as stated above NEVER seen it before a game. The Players should be applauded for this new initiative to show we are all in this together.
Think this has been blown out of all proprotion just because Conor Hourihane took to twitter to mention it - I was there and yes, a few people booed, but not that many and I think some were booing the ref rather than the team. In my experience the vast majority of the away support are generally behind the team and I find it a bit off that Conor felt the need to 'tweet' about the boos, especially given the fact that he made no tweets pulling the fans down when we were **** for months and losing every week
