November we had claims that this was the worst Barnsley team ever - admittedly there have been changes but I've known us have a run like this before. Automatic promotion - why not?!
Just too far...if it wasn't Wigan in second we'd have an outside chance, but I think both Wigan and Burton are too well organised to let it slip.
autos are too far, but what's really important is how we've reeled everyone in now. not only are we in the top 6, but anyone of those 4 spots are now up for grabs. unbelievable
We were always in a false position. Okay the league table doesn't lie, but we were having 20 odd chances in games and losing 2-1 or 1-0 every week at one stage. We've ironed out those defensive errors. Brought in some cracking players. Our attackers are playing with confidence and taking the chances they previously missed and we're rolling teams over for fun. Sent from my I-Oven using the internets
Been doing a bit of research, and even if the season were to have started at any point going back as far as 1st of November, we'd still be top of the league now! Just makes you wonder what might have been possible had we picked up a few more points in those games where we were playing okay but getting no points because we couldn't keep the goals out. But I suppose the fact we've turned it around so dramatically from doing so badly makes this good run sweeter than can be. Wouldn't be the Barnsley way if we were to be amazing without our fair share of ***** thrown in the memory for good measure!
There were a few games before we started winning we really should have got something from. A few individual errors, odd bit of bad luck, some poor finishing... When ye gods are against you it happens.
You could be right, I'd forgotten we have them in the last match...we need to keep it going and hope to catch up 7 points, as the goal difference will be hard to make up, Wigan are +14 more than us. Having said that Millwall will probably have they're eyes on it.
I'm still clinging to the hope that we can do it but I feel that Johnsons stubborn determination to stick with a failing system might just leave us a little short.
I think it was one of the worst teams I've seen but at the time I & others said we'd got enough quality players for this level & that we should be in the top 6. Badly managed at the time
Agree.. we must win 3 more games than Wigan and 4 more than Burton just to catch em.... don't think they slip up that much.
We don't have a manager, we have a temporary head coach. Hopefully this week it's made official that Hecky has the head coach role at least until the end of the season.
