Reckons she has been taking the same medication for 10 years and that when she was emailed a new list of banne substances she didn't bother to check if her medication was on it.

Sounds very fishy to me. If you were routinely taking medication and you were sent a revised list of banned substances wouldn't you instantly check that list to make sure your substance wasn't on it? I know I would.

I wonder if it is more that she suspected it WAS on it but felt if she didn't check she could claim ignorance in the future which is exactly what has played out.

Apparently it's a drug used to control angina , doubt Sharapova has heart problems

To be fair, theres that many banned substances in professional sports now that it must be quite difficult to know whether its safe to take something for a head ache. Most of these substances cant give you any sort of real advantage in competition either surely.

You'd have thought if it was such an advantage that they would have been banned years ago though

Only read this about it: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/35750285

Seems to me she's taking full responsibility but at the same time explaining why it happened. She admits she's at fault and is ready to take the consequences. I'm not worried she's a cheat. Wipe her results from the records since the rule change on 1st January. Any ban longer than a year would be, imho, excessive.

Interestingly she was taking this before it went through clinical trials. Additionally it's illegal in the US (no licence for it as a drug) , where she lives and trains. It's also apparently not very good at treating the conditions she claims it was being used for.

Fact is it was a morally redundant but technically legal performance enhancer - that she'd been using for the past 10 years. Stuff like this is rife in my opinion, it's where most of the 'marginal gains' come from at the top of the sport.

While that is true for a lot of women in the public eye, it's not actually the case for Sharapova. I wouldn't say no if she asked me out like, but I've never got all dreamy about her. That might change now though as I've been impressed with the way she's handled this, which has led me to look at some pictures on google images. Some of which nearly had my eye out.

It's not medication she wants it's a fecking gag she needs for her grunting and moaning.

    She's been deliberately doping.

Loads of Russian athletes getting popped for this drug lately.

I'm still shocked that neither Nadal or Serena Williams have been caught

Taking responsibility whilst getting her lawyer to ask for mitigatating circumstances and claim innocence.
I notice she's not mentioned that she was actually informed that it was banned more than once, only mentioning an email in December. She was actually told in September too and also advised in late 2014. As I said it would appear she has deliberately played ignorant

Meldonium and Russian athletes. Lots of diabetes and angina about. Poor lambs. Imagine how good these sports stars would be if they didn't have all these ailments? Of course it's wrong just to pick on the Russians. Most top athletes are at it. Modern sport is a sham, and no mistake.

Are you saying that somebody who has been battling diabetes since she was 18 wouldn't bring out a range of high sugarconfectionary called sugapova and claimed to bring out her sweet side?

The poor lass has been at deaths door for years
