Anyone who has any cases open with Raleys prepare for extra ballache. I was on the final stretch of completing the purchase of my first house, deposit and final payments made to Raleys. Now in limbo with another company based in Leeds which have taken on Raleys cases. 3 months in to the process expecting to complete this week only to be hit with this this morning.
How can a company that dealt with ALL mining compensation claims such as white finger etc go into administration - they have had ££££££millions from the NUM and miners in this district
I have no idea buddy. Greedy people at the top as per usual? They couldnt wait to take my hard earned money off of me though or bother to tell me they were going under.
Probably didn't help with stories like this 2 years ago. "NUM lawyers dub miners thick after making £77m from their claims: Legal firm dropped after making jokes about workers' intelligence in training manual" http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...kes-workers-intelligence-training-manual.html
Thick as two short planks..........I would agree with that But its not because of low intelligence..........its because of poor education Obviously the lawyers have had that education...........us miners went to silly schools..........you only have to watch KES to get a glimpse of what it was like at my school..........a great laugh........but no qualifications
They were dealing with my accident until about four months ago then pulled out due to conflict very suddenly. It messed things up and has set me back months but I think I dodged a bullet.
Id agree with you mate never once have they phoned to give us an update of what was happening, must have phone over 20 times just to find out what was happening. Absolute toss customer service.
The new firm I'm with weren't overly complimentary about how they'd handled things up to dropping me. With hindsight I'm glad they dropped me when they did rather than now; at least things are moving now.
I hope the Leeds firm you have been transferred to isn't Blacks Direct. We dealt with them for a property sale and purchase recently and it took 4 months for two straightforward transactions and they were very poor communications-wise.

St Helen's offered the finest education in the world lol[/QUOTE] And I was questioned in here when I said never use a barnsley solicitor
Re: Unashamed plug.... ...We used Newman and Bond when we sold our house. The solicitor who handled the conveyancing was called St John Wright. He also handled the conveyancing on my daughter's first house after various friends and colleagues recommended them. Very, very thorough and he found (and resolved) a potential banana skin in my daughters purchase that was missed by the seller (involving a right of way and boundary). He eased us through what is always a worrying time when buying and selling houses. We had 100% faith in him and were not dosappointed. Can't always say the same about solicitors we have encountered (sorry Mr Orsenkhat that is not aimed at you- not even sure where you fit in this - but you clearly know more than anyone on this board about the machinations of the legal profession)
Solicitors will take as long as they possibly can. Every phone call you make to them they charge for, every letter and e-mail they charge for. And they aren't small charges. Their hourly rates are ridiculously high so they will take as long as they dare. Never trust a lawyer.
True of a minority, but not the majority. If you agree a fee estimate/limit up front you will ensure they will be as efficient as they possibly can when dealing with you.
My mother worked as a secretary at Raleys in the 30s. She recalled one of the girls going into Mr. Sid. Raley's office to announce that there was a lady from Grimethorpe to see him. Mr. Sid retorted, "Miss Downend, there are no ladies in Grimethorpe".
I just hope that our buyers weren't using them, given the nightmare we've had already with them and due to exchange contracts this week.
Didn't know that, but Ive been absent a long time. We recently went through litigation ant it cost a packet in legal fees,
