Does anyone on here get broadband via Plusnet?

I moved from Talktalk to Plusnet 2 years ago and it's been a definite improvement in some respects. We've got unlimited broadband and Anytime calls for £10.99 per month (+ line rental of £12.94 per month by paying it annually with the line saver). We only get 4mb download speeds but it's usually sufficient for what we want to do, the exception being when me and the wife both want to use our Amazon Fire Sticks. We live a few miles from the exchange in a non-fibre area though, so that's not really a reflection on Plusnet. Connection drops have been very rare. The few times I've needed to contact them have been a good, friendly, helpful and well communicated experience. Good banter with a Dee-Dar each time. I wasn't charged for a fault that was within my boundaries and I should have really had to pay for as well.

They all quote 75mb but its rarely achieved.

I got upgraded by talksquawk after their ****up.

Twenty quid a month inc line rental for fibre and five sky channels.

    Average about 45mb

Fine for streaming and five devices.

Only get issues at peak time when trying to watch 'super hd' but thats easily fixes.

Switched from talktalk four years ago. Great to speak to people whose first language is English, and a big improvement on our previous supplier. Have virgin in France and they are far poorer than plusnet.

My experience of TalkTalk is that a piece of string would be an improvement.

what do you want to know.. price or speed

the speed and connectivity is controlled by BT its that simple... they sub lease the lines to all the other ISPNS.. its then up to them what they charge... but BT will always control it all other than the cable connections. Put it this way I was with EE/Orange got around 12 to 13... was offered deal with BT now I get 23 - 24... BT call the shots... also if you have a line go down they fix the connections to the BT people long before the customers of talk-talk, Plus Net, EE, etc etc.

Also if you elect to change your Internet provider its BT Open Reach who go out to the green boxes/pavements and alter it... but who do you think gets re-connected the fastest in the event of some major failure... yes that right its the BT clients .. and trust me I have suffered from this in the past.

I'm with plus net. Been very happy with the service.
Don't forget to go through Topcashback for about a £90 kickback. Not checked but when I signed up it was an 18 month contract. If you ring up on the day your service goes live and ask them what they'd offer you for moving to a 24 month term, they may offer you a better deal. They dig for me - significantly better.

    Exactly my Point

BT .. OWN the phone network.. but not cable. This is why BT can dictate just how fast/efficient the likes of TalkTalk. PlusNet.EE, etc etc can perform... what you need to think is this... if your internet does have problems then its BT who sorts it out... if you are an indirect client your problem goes way down on a list... if you are a BT client then you are one a higher priority list . Believe me I have learned this by a first hand experience which left me disconnected for a good while. Go ahead take on these so called cheaper/faster deals... but do it at your own risk. I guarantee you will ultimately get totally pissed off and disappointed.
