Just a quick mention for Marc Roberts who I thought was absolutely dominant today. Very strong in the tackle, won ever header and always seemed to be in the right place to boot the ball clear. His distribution could do with some work but in terms of big, dominant centre halves, I think he's as good as we'll see at this level.
He has been solid scince long has gone back to Burnley. He did well at beginning of season vs everton just a shame Johnson kept messing about with center back pairings and messing him about.
I agree i think Johnson knocked both his and Davies's confidence by dropping them for no reason other than tinkering
Also didn't like him dropping James bree every time he put a foot wrong but would give players like townsend and Wilkinson chance after chance
And Winnall too, either playing him wide left, midfield or completely dropping him. He ruined a lot of our better players confidence at one point or another. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The tackle on burns down our side of pitch was one of the strongest I've seen Nearly put him in stands Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Big praise to Heckinbotton for me. We've lost 3 of the first choice back 4 since he took over & apart from the first 20 minutes against Southend we've still looked as solid. I listened George Williams' interview & he was full of praise for how much Heckinbottom has improved him with his coaching methods.
I still have my worries with him springvale red but maybe I was too harsh. I still think for example hes too slow on the ball. Again yesterday he held onto it too much and got closed down.
It's his 1st season in football league, a step up of 2 division from Halifax. If you talk to him or his dad they will tell you he's still learning. Johnson shot his confidence by picking and dropping him when clearly it was Nyatanga that was weak link in back 4.
He'll have been closed down plenty of times but players in general are a lot fitter & faster at this level so they can do it over & over again
