Got an email last month from our Head of Practice asking for volunteers to work at our Brussels office. I think I might change my reply.

On a secure site currently and the normal security checks were increased this morning. Gonna be a long day of BBC Breaking News I feel.

Nothing to do with religion and everything to do with evil. My thoughts are with the families who've been affected by this latest attack on humanity.

Islamic State if Iraq and Syria. Note first word. Da'ish or ISIS follow the Wahabist form of Islam, one of whose Imams in Saudi decreed the world is flat! Many of these Wahibist imams have been granted visas to various countries as men of religion, and are thus responsible for radicalisation of members of their mosques.

Note the title of the thread? Religion of peace, this is what 'mainstream' Islam is referred to, and for the most part actually is. I'm not defending these people (ISIS, Extremists, whatever **** newspaper you read is calling them this week) I'm simply bored of people stereotyping Muslims, especially in Barnsley, a town that gloats/prides itself on being the most racist town in England, or something to that effect.

It's actually Wahhabism, you missed an h, best get your UKIP/England First/National front leaflets rounded up...you'll look dead silly to anyone with any half of brain cell.

    PS.

I understand people are angry (Rightly so) but there's still no excuse for turning into Neo-Nazi's and grouping people together under one banner. It's a joke it's 2016 for Christ sake! An to think when I've been going to those takeaways and enjoying Curry/Falafel etc, I've been funding terrorists (Shock horror) Stop reading and believing everything you see in the news, read a book instead, I suggest Paul Auster, a book called Timbuktu.

I'm going to have to disagree with you there mate. All the monotheistic religions are a nasty pile of judgemental sanctimonious puss even if they're not blowing people up. Racist, homophobic, misogynistic, repressive nonsense. That's not to say that all adherents are like that, but a lot of the dogma pushes otherwise reasonable people into displaying completely unreasonable behaviour and views, which would never be accepted by any decent members of society were they not backed up by religion. As a wise man once said - "Good people do good, and bad people do evil. But it takes religion to make good people do evil"

I forget the source, but Barnsley was billed 'The most racist town in Britain' at some point.

Islamic State (or whatever they're called this week) is to Islam what rape is to love.

24% of the world population call themselves Muslim. About 1.6 billion folk. A quarter of the humans on Earth.

Islamic State intend to one day control all the world's Muslims. A bit like how certain sects of Christianity liked full rule of its followers. Which led to wars, famines and deaths the world over. It's nothing new basically. But it's a lot more frightening to us because you can only read about the Crusades and other such religious wars. None of us have lived through one. It's why it was always ******* stupid of our country/government to get involved as keenly as they did under Tony Blair. Attacking, looting and then leaving a Muslim nation to have its bones picked by such as Al-Qaeda and now, ISIS (****s, I like to call em). They've been able to take over large parts of Iraq. They rule these parts through terror. But I'm sure many Iraqi's were willing to submit to them, and take up arms in their honour, largely in retribution for what the western armies did to their country in 'freeing it' from Saddam. That's Saddam who was democratically elected (dubious, I know.. but we can't talk can we? I don't know anyone who voted the current shower in). Saddam, who had some element of control that kept these jihadis in check. Dubious control, probably. I dunno. But why was it our business exactly? We all know why our country got involved there, and it wasn't to find WMD's or free the people of Iraq...

The Middle East is a shitstorm. We should be nowhere near it. Our government and the American government are practically lovers. Who in turn are in love with Saudi Arabia. That's Saudi Arabia with again (like ISIL... another name) a Sunni Muslim rule, Wahhabism, a dictatorship. It lacks any service or production sector, but it has the fourth biggest military expenditure and is the world's second biggest arms dealer, and why? Because it is the home of Petroleum. It is the world's largest oil producer and exporter. It is also home to the most holy of Muslim sites - Mecca. So it's basically a nation built on oil, with lots of weapons and the worst human rights record on Earth.

So I'm not keen on our 'kingdom' being in bed with such a 'kingdom'. Why aren't we invading Saudi? They have oil, they commit atrocities upon their own people on a daily and public basis, they are following the same strand of Islam that IS preach regards the caliphate. Is it because they have nuclear weapons? I mean, officially they actually don't have nukes. But come on. They and Pakistan have been colluding for years on nuclear programs. As they were once accused of doing with Iraq, hence the west invading Iraq. But not Saudi.....

I could go on all day. I'm not really making any point here. I'm as baffled by it all as the next man. But I refuse to paint certain people as the villains just because our government aided by the media tell us to, especially when as a semi-intelligent bloke I can't help but look at my own country and its government and certain people as villainous too.

It's not Tom and Jerry. It's not Transformers. There is no goodie and baddie. It's not that black and white. But what is clear is that it's always innocent folk who get caught up in these global games of greed, power and money.

I'll go back to work tomorrow and I know at least one sunni Muslim lad I work with, Arshad, he'll come straight up to me and try and explain it all, like he feels guilty just because he might need to be. Or summat. It's mental. I'm not a big religious person myself, but I do call myself a Christian because I've a faith inside me that believes I'll one day see my mother again. Might be daft, but it is what it is. To me. But I don't have to go around apologizing to Muslims for what people did in the name of Christianity a thousand years ago, do I?

Kinel. I should stick to podcasts and calling folk wallies.
