According to Graham Alexander re Roberts boot in Maddens face. Personally I don't think Roberts knew he was there and it was just an attempt to clear the ball. Wonder if player footage will clear it up!

That was the 3rd high boot of the game. The previous 2 didn't get a booking, so I don't understand why Roberts' should have been any different. As you say their lad came from behind him and stuck his head in.

There was no malice or intent in it at all so a yellow was probably all it was worth.

Looked to me like Madden dropped his head in after Roberts had already won the ball. Would've been unlucky to have been booked for that, especially a booking that would've sent him off.

He'd been booked a minute before.

Thats Alexanders point. Would have been a second yellow leading to a red and off. Not sure it was a foul myself.

Weirdly the ref let them off with multiple fouls before finally booking one of them in the 93rd min.

That's my point. I think he'd have got a yellow at worst but because it was so innocuous the ref didn't want to send him off.

Memory may not serve me right here. But wouldn't they have been Clean through. Free kick and straight red anyway....

No there were loads of defenders around. Never a straight red. Might have got a yellow from some refs but as already mentioned 2 previous similar challenges hadn't got cards so to give him one would have been very unfair

Fair enough. I couldn't really picture it correctly.
