Whilst he obviously didn't intend any offence, you'd at least run the idea past someone before you did it. There's all sorts of bizarre traditions and customs around the world.

If I was Messi I'd take the boots back and give them the middle finger.

You'd think he has an advisor who might have pointed him in the right direction.

there certainly are some bizarre customs around the world, but the middle east seems to be a hotbed for most of them....stonings,beheadings,hangings,polygamy,child brides, womens rights(or rather the lack of them),FGM,honour killings......Kinell,they actually go up the wall because messi donates his booits.

It's a non story though innit. Media picking up on what some people have said on social media. It'd be like the Swedish media leading with 'Thomas The Tank offends Britain by introducing foreign trains' on the basis of the 5 or 6 mental posts on here yesterday

Exactly. Twitter allows these things to be reported in this way. There may have been a wave of resentment but the entire evidence for this in that article is posts from two Twitter users. It's not hard to find crank opinions from any country or section of society on Twitter.

And who cares anyway. Typical lazy journalism based on nothing more than 'look at those people they're different than us, isn't it shocking' type approach. I just don't get how that's news
