When you spend most of the week celebrating a cup victory rather than preparing for the most important league games of the season!! Not at the races today and Chesterfield thoroughly deserved their win!
********. They were the better side first half but we battered them second half, hit both posts, had one cleared off the line, had at least one penalty denied and forced their keeper to make some great saves. They had 2 chances and scored both.
The players weren't back in until Wednesday, Thursday's celebrations and trophy parade should have waited til the end of the season!
Hit the post twice , cleared off the line , keeper made great saves, decent penalty appeal - deserved a point at least
You do realise they played on Sunday right? So Wednesday is the equivalent of Tuesday meaning they got ONE extra day off. Except they usually have I think Wednesday off (remember Keith hill crying that he couldn't take Sydney swimming?) So that's now the equivalent of coming in Tuesday too so your complaint really is that they've trained exactly the same amount of days as always but because it was a Sunday match they have it the two days off together. I don't think that's what caused us to hit the posts
Fair enough!! They also ****** up and missed an absolute sitter!! Maybe I'm being a bit harsh but for me today's game was much more important than last Sunday's!
What cost us was them having by far the best player on the pitch running rings round Bree. Now you can blame Bree for somehow standing off said player, letting him square him up, then not having the ability to do owt much further to stop him laying on 2 goals. Or you can blame the acting manager for either picking Bree in the first place, or not factoring in enough cover to help him out when he did pick him. Or you can accept that said player was just too good for us.
Both games were important. Every single game we play is important. Whether there are three points ina promotion chase, three points in a relegation battle, a cup or trophy or even nothing at all riding on it it is still important because any one game can make the r break a player's career at the club or can attract a new supporter. Today could have been the one game that a young lad went to with his dad for whatever reason, likewise Wembley may have been or even a seemingly meaningless game at the end of a season where we are comfortably mid table. Each game is important and I'm sure the players, manager and just as importantly PC will know that and will get that message across to the team
Absolute tosh. Just because we lost it all down to inadequate preparation? Bet you couldn't wait for us to lose so you could write that. We absolutely battered them 2nd half and with a small amount of luck would have scored at least 3. There goalie will never have a game as good as that again. I've seen us play far worse in this run and win so the Cup celebration had absolutely bugger all to do with losing today. In fact, if you read the Wembley programme, that Cup run kick-started our season and saved us from being in a relegation battle. Just do not understand why people can't wait to criticise at the first opportunity
