Second half particularly but don't think we were awful first either. Some good moves, plenty of chances & should've won. But these are the types of team we'll struggle against. Big, strong, organised & aggressive. The longer it stayed 0-0 the more obvious that they were coming back into it and that's when we still need that bit of experience IMHO. Until we get it, we'll always be susceptible to being kicked in the balls. Play Offs were always a long shot and even more so now. Can be done but feels unlikely but to be fair, they always were. I hope not having a permanent man in place doesn't hinder preparation for next season considering from the side that started yesterday only Mawson/Bree/Roberts/Hourihane & Winnall are contracted to be here & I doubt we'll see Sam or Conor with them having 1 year left. Proud of the lads & the club these last 4 months but still wary of what it may do expectation for next season. Sithi.
I'm not convinced Conor is good enough to be inundated with better offers. Sam Winnall, I'm resigned to losing if we don't go up. The others, I think we can retain with the possible exception of Hammill. If he's set financially and at a stage where he wants to play regularly and enjoy his game, he'd be crazy to chance it all on a move. I'd agree we need some experience on the pitch but we had an experienced ref yesterday. Concrete proof that experience offers no immunity from being absolutely *****.
Very enjoyable game packed with incident and excitement. Of course the result was a kick in the sphericals but lightness to the darkness of the passionless shapeless defeats earlier in the season. I can see Hourihane as a top half championship player given the improvement in his overall game. Sam might struggle with the step up imo.
Dont get me wrong, i rate both of them and think both will play in Championship. Just think Conor is the better of the two and more likely to be successful at that level.
