to be fair, i thought we were excellent for large parts of the game. alnwick had the game of his life. we did everything but score. could have been 5
he does have a point with the red card to be fair. if it had been the other way round, this board would be raging. i don't want to see that.
i'm not talking about the manager. i'm talking about conor hourihane getting one of their players sent off
Anyone seen the slow mo video doing the rounds on twitter. Conor stamps on his foot whilst walking away after the 1st incident and then turns his studs in. So not surprised by the posh players reaction Sent from my SM-G800F using Tapatalk
he went down like he'd been shot, then did a sneaky stamp. he knew what he was doing. i'm not defending that. our player or not.
Happened right in front of me, ref had a yellow out then forrester kicked out. His own daft fault. Or maybe the beach was calling..?
I stuck my Wenger goggles on. Didn't see it guvner. It did look like very minimal contact if any, but the lad put his head in, and then gave the ref no option with the push. He earned his sending off, regardless of what Hourihane did.
The ref should have stamped his authority from early on all posh wanted to do was make niggle fouls from the off and the ref failed to book even when it was the same players persistently doing it. Even in the second half letting ben Alnwick time waste until the 87th minute or whatever before booking him. We played well harder to break down with ten men than 11 though.
The ref was seriously at fault for letting things get out of control. He p!ssed about for what seemed ages before doing owt, allowing all the Peterborough players to surround him. By the time Conor stood on their bloke, Forrester had already long committed two booking offences and should have been half way to the dressing room if the ref hadn't fecked around. In terms of Conor going down it happened right in front of me and there was clear head movement towards him by Forrester. Not sure what else Conor could do but go down, if he'd retaliated he'd have got a red too and their lad had hold of him so he couldn't walk away. Bear in mind also that by that point in the game there had been at least five other cowardly, snidey, professional fouls by them and the ref was giving us no protection. Thought we were pretty decent on the whole tonight and all the back four played well, Roberts looked very accomplished, Mawson nearly as good, Williams rock-like and an heroic goalscorer and Scowen steady defensively and our best and most consistent attacking outlet all night. Really hope that when we get White or Bree back, Hecky will replace the hyper-frustrating Isgrove (surely the experiment with this guy has got to end after 30 games with a pathetic 2 assists and no goals?) with Josh S who can at least cross a ball.
Well deserved sending off. Escaped with a head to head then did summat daft. Conor provoked him but he had been kicked a few times so you can't blame him. The lad who dragged Fletcher back should have been sent off. Westley complaining about time wasting was hilarious. His entire team could have been booked fr it.
Now concerned Conor could face disciplinary action. Not sure what the protocol is for leagues below the Prem. If he is disciplined, it will be a certain 3 game ban, which would be a massive blow to our chances.
