that us, Millwall, Bradford and Gillingham could all be tied together on 72 points. Millwall are away at Bury, Bradford are at home to Walsall, Gillingham entertain Shrewsbury and we're at dem Blades. It's a hell of a tough game for us, but with our away form this season... A win for us and Gillingham, a draw for Bradford, and a loss for Millwall, and everyone starts shitting themselves as there's just 2 games to decide which one of those four misses out.
This season is a right laugh. Loving it. Also loving Hourihane in a midfield 2, Hourihane & Winnall in the same side, and a back 4 made up of 2 non league lads, a player who'd only really played at league 2 level and a midfielder playing out of position creating chances and keeping clean sheets respectively. Happy that Sheff Utd HAVE to beat us rather than just stopping us playing and kicking us like Southend, Oldham, Chesterfield and Peterborough did.
it's a mental season. to go from where we were in november, to where we are now is crackers. top of the league over the last 27 games, with 55 points. this isn't just a good run anymore. it's an automatic standard squad.
Genuinely feel proud of the club again. Not just the players, who run their blood to water every week, but the way everyone at the club have conducted themselves. Sticking with Johnson through that appalling run and under such pressure took some backbone; the dignity we showed when Johnson departed took some class. We're Barnsley and we'll always be a bit small town, we'll always get a few things wrong, but we seem to be getting the big decisions right and that's very heart warming. We'll probably just miss out. The players are ******* knackered and we just haven't got the numbers to freshen things up. However, win promotion or not, it's been an amazing season and I couldn't ask for more from anyone associated with the club.
Jay - Absolutely agree with you except that I think that we should not underestimate those in and around us may be equally knackered and "running on empty" so I`m ever the optimist and we may still get there. If we don`t it`s still been a season to remember!
I think you're right everybody will be getting close to the bottom of the tank...let's hope the youngest team in football have a bit more left than the others.
I think we'll make it. I think it's worked out great that the last 2 teams we play will in all likelihood have nothing to play for.
i think we'll just miss out. marley out, toney ineffective, winnall and hammill starting to look more tired each game and hourihane not appearing to want to shoot anymore. they're giving 100% every game and they must be running on adrenalin now..
