Played Centre Half for Ipswich yesterday against Middlesboro. Got 8 out of 10 in The Football League paper
Pleased for him. Still can see him kicking on to be a decent Championship level player particularly with Mick in his corner.
He made one brilliant sliding block to save an almost certain goal. Commentator said it was his first start for them - perhaps first league start. Well done to him and, if we lose either of our centre halves in the summer, we should get him back and play him there.
He was quality yesterday from what I'm told. Spent hours & hours working with him on the training ground as a centre back & hopefully for him it's paying off
dont be surprised to see him sign for them pretty soon after the season ends. free transfer with a bit of a sell on clause
Thought he went on loan with the option for them to sign him. Been wrong before though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Missed out? He's been here years, he broke through in 2011. That's five years ago. In that time we've flirted with the Championship playoffs, had Stones, Butterfield, Holgate, Drinkwater, Trippier and Butland laik for us and move on to bigger things, we've had an FA Cup Quarter Final run, an amazing escape from relegation, a relegation, we've seen Mido, Shea and Frimpong laik for us, Scott Wiseman made 100 ******* appearances for us, we've been on our worst losing sequence for 60 years, our best winning sequence for 60 years, twice, we've beaten dem blades, lost to Altrincham, beat a Leicester side containing Vardy and Kane, had a manager call us cnuts and another manager offering us out behind the East Stand. We've been to Wembley and won a trophy. We've seen off The Don, welcomed Big Ben. We've seen the establishment of a supporters bar, a fanzine and a dedicated supporters radio show. The BBS has banned different versions of the same person about 66 times, Jimmy Savile went from legendary, revered, dead celebrity to legendary, reviled, dead scumbag. In other words, since Diggers made his first appearance away at Derby, a lot has happened. And in the intervening years he's never kicked on. He's gone backwards if anything at Oakwell. He needs this. A fresh start. He's a terrific kid and I wish him all the best. It's good for him that he's actually got a move higher up the food chain. He still has a reputation. I hope yesterday was step one towards making a great career for himself. I have my doubts, but who am I to judge a laiker? I used to think Mike Sheron was underrated..
When I said " missed out " I was referring to the fact that coaches working every day with a player hadn't spotted the same signs that Ipswich scouts had which is he MAY make a centre back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
To be fair, we managed to spot Mawson and Roberts. Arguably the best centre half pairing in League 1 right now, and the best I remember seeing at Oakwell for many years. I think he's had more than long enough to stake his claim. Just hasn't worked out for him here.
