A few were on last week when williams nodded home. I'd imagine if gills are losing and we score same minght happen again. (Not condoning it just saying)
It's inevitable but I hope they retreat to allow the lads to receive a proper lap of honour, without interference, they fully deserve. In an ideal world the club would finally take appropriate actions to keep them in the stands in the first place but we all know that won't happen.
what did you have in mind? police horses and riot shields? it's a load of b0llocks this. i say the same every year. we will ask them not to run on the pitch. they will run on the pitch. they will run around for a bit, then eventually walk off. no harm done. just let it happen, then bring the players on. they won't though. they will spend 15 minutes on the PA telling the fans they are spoiling it for everyone. then people in the stands will start booing. then the PA will say they've spoiled it for everyone and the players aren't coming out. then they will walk off the pitch.
Here is a possible scenario: The club announce during the week that, whatever happens, the players are going to do a walking lap of honour at the end of the match holding the Football League Trophy to show it to the fans. Therefore, if they would kindly remain in their seats to allow this to happen....... It will be repeated on the day. It might even get repeated towards the end of the match, just for the hard of hearing/thinking. Here is the actual scenario: The full time whistle blows and hundreds of cretins, young and old, run onto the pitch before any of the players have even had chance to shake hands with each other. For no other reason than they can, because there is nothing to stop them, and it's "what we always do". This season, of all seasons, it HAS to be stopped. I want to see the players holding the trophy we won at Wembley. I want to see it paraded at Oakwell to the accompaniment of raputurous cheers and applause. Will we get it? Not a chance. The imbeciles will win.....AGAIN.
Alternatively announce 'every person identified as going onto the playing area will receive a ban from Oakwell' that will stop them
No it won't, because they won't be listening. Announcements are for other people, not those just having a bit of end of season fun
We may have another home game to play after Colchester so if anyone goes on the pitch they're idiots. I just don't get the middle aged blokes on the pitch, the ones who walk round like they're Billy Big Balls. Dickheads.
you're banning little kids from oakwell, for running onto the pitch after the final game of the season? it will also cost us money in lost season ticket sales i imagine. sounds a bit harsh.
Why can't people just comply with a simple request to show courtesy for fellow supporters and stay off the pitch? It's not hard. It's not onerous. You just stay in the stands and applaud the players. But no. Some people regard themselves as far too important to extend courtesy to anyone else.
this very thread is case in point. people already getting wound up about it. i honestly don't see what the issue is. all people do is run onto the pitch, take some photos, run round a bit then walk off. i've never seen any bother at all. seriously, what's the big deal? just let it happen. form a security barrier on the half way line, then slowly move forwards after 10 minutes when they've all c0cked about for a bit. then bring the players out. this is a non-issue.
The issue is that we're not allowed on to the pitch and the club ask us not to go on to the pitch. We turn a blind eye after the last home game, then what? We turn a blind eye after winning games, then after scoring goals. The majority of fans comply with the request of the club but a minority don't and they spoil it for every one else. They're selfish and ignorant.
made me laugh that as you've nailed it exactly. couldnt make it up if it wasnt true but we've seen it for every season running
The issue is that it has potentially stopped 6000 young school kids from being allowed to attend next Saturday's game
To be honest it's not an issue that exercises me. I just don't care either way though any adult who does it isn't someone you would want to spend much time with. Whenever I've witnessed it the vast majority have been pre pubescent. As Marc says a non issue.
