Do you guys think he will be sold this summer? Not been his finest season but I believe he has often been made a scapegoat on many an occasion.
Bidding war between Chelsea and Man City possibly Barcelona outsider, according to some papers in the week
I was texting my Everton ST holder mate with commiserations yesterday and reminded him that the young Stones lad needs to be sold in the summer. It just shows how crap the Reds management is not to have put in a clause making it mandatory to sell him for mega bucks within. 2 years.
with the investment at everton i very much doubt they need to sell. they might do of course if they think the price far outweighs his actual value.
The big clubs will pay for his ability and potential. I still think he will be sold for in excess of £40m in the summer.
Ultimate scenario this summer. the above happens. we receive 15%. we get promoted via the playoffs. kerching! Oh well I can dream can't I?
Sounds like he hasn't had the best of seasons but seemed to play very well yesterday and the commentators were raving about him, his calmness and his ability to play the ball. I think he needs to move to realise his full potential, otherwise he could stagnate at Everton.
It would be the perfect 'welcome back to the championship' present. He needs to move away from Everton, I think he knows it too. I can see him at City next season.
I watched the game yesterday and stones for me had a really good game. For uniteds first goal he was telling the full back to pick up bingo dabber head. Odd occassion he was having to take the ball out of defence because no one was making themseleves available. The amount of responsibillity on his young shoulders was increased due to his fellow defenders letting down by being off the pace
Totally agree. His defensive abilities need development and Martinez is clueless about the defensive side of the game. Even I can see he regularly takes up the wrong positions in the box, so why the hell can't Everton's management and coaching teams see that. I think he's off to Man City where he will develop into England's captain in 2 years time.
I'm of the opinion he will sign for Barcelona, been saying it for 12 months but the transfer embargo on Barca put it on hold. His style and ability is perfectly suited to La Liga (imho)
He's had all the class managed out of him at Everton. Martinez is a nice enough fella, but doesn't know how to manage defenders - same thing happened at Wigan and they went down. Ar John is still at the unpolished diamond stage - his current gaffer is not the man to finish that job.
Firmly believe his ideal position would be deep midfield...and I believe Woy has considered this, if by accident or design this happens at the Euros and is a success, his fee will shoot up.
I think that it is as good as a done deal. Everton will want to hold on to the likes of Lukaku and Barkley, but have proved that they can cover more than adequately for Stones. A bidding war between Chelsea and Manchester City would help the fee rise. I would guess that City would be likely to win that one and we should get our decent cut. I am not sure that he would cope with a move abroad. we forget he is still young.
Best thing he can do is piss off abroad to Barca or whoever wants him because we'll not be happy in this country until we've ruined his confidence totally and/or turned him into a clogger. Then we can complain that we have no footballing defenders in English football.
