I can't believe any names other than Hammill, Hourihane & Winnall have been suggested. It's player of the year not favourite player isn't it? I'm a big fan of Roberts & Williams but they shouldn't anywhere near this, I don't think either have even played in half our games. Right now I'd probably go Hammill, Hourihane, Winnall in that order but it could easily change.
Don't necessarily disagree about Roberts & Williams but had the season ended half way through when neither played I suspect this thread wouldn't have even started because we were so disullutioned with the performances
George Williams has only just turned 23. He ought to have been eligible for YPOTY. Cyrus Christie won Derby's YPOTY award last night, he's nearly 24. Bree will get it this season though. Who got it last year?
We don't like 20 goals a season strikers. Don't you remember from when Andy Peyton was ridiculously voted into second place when he did the same
Me, too. Also, it's difficult to remember a season when you'd have had seven different players all getting into double figures amongst the fans voting on here. Although I've voted for Conor, I'd be more than happy to see any of the other six get it.
I find it interesting the players people like and don't like. For example you loving both Hourihane and McCourt shows that you love the exciting midfielder who doesn't necessarily do a lot of work (no offence to hourihane, I'm talking more last season) but is exciting to watch at times. I voted for Watkins and liked moore, mvoto and the likes of Sheridan. The grafters who aren't necessarily as naturally gifted. Not really much point to this post. I just noticed it again
I'd much rather see someone with talent than a runner. McCourt over Dawson if you like, although both have a place.
No offence to any of the other young player nominations but he should win it by a country mile. Over 50 games in his first ever season at such an high level, outscoring attacking players like Lloyd Isgrove and a massive part of so many clean sheets in the second half of the season. Despite his age he's the more "senior" centre half playing alongside someone who was playing non league football in the 5th tier last season.
I'm one of life's grey people, old mate. I'm dull, uninteresting and never do anything exciting. However, I love people who are naturally colourful, who do things out of the norm, who are creative and imaginative. It doesn't mean I don't appreciate the reliable, the consistent, the workhorse if you will. As I said, I wouldn't have a problem with any of the major runners winning in this particular race and Marley Watkins is a real favourite of mine. I just enjoy those who provide the flair and excitement more.
What a fantastic team we have built. Patrick Cryne and others should be praised massively. They have got the recruitment strategy bang on.
I note that my choice was shared by the players. It's a shame that my insightfulness is not appreciated on here.
