and free for under 18s, I think.
They want to fill the ground for such an important fixture.
It'll be good to see Oakwell half empty, Colchester will bring at least not very many.
Surely the best opportunity for a similar gesture by us ... possible play off place, last game of the season at home, encourage more people, especially kids, to want to come back next season after playoffs and potential promotion. Oh sorry, forgot.... it's Barnsley.

They're trying to get it done as we speak.

If people aren't encouraged enough by our form in 2016, a trip to Wembley already with the possibility of another one to come, they never will be.

No, they're looking at moving the Colchester fans to the West Stand and giving schools free tickets for the North.

Cost me less earlier this year to see Stoke V Man City then it would if I paid on the day at Oakwell. On what planet can that be correct

Why is everything done at the last minute at BFC? They gave 5 days notice of the Super Six, assumed everyone would hear about it via the internet and then wondered why there was only a 150 take-up.

I'm a big admirer of Ben Mansford but I can't understand the thinking in this situation. Crowds have been extremely disappointing as we come to the critical part of the season, primarily I presume because it's too expensive. I went to the Chesterfield game last minute as i was unsure if i could get away from work in time. Paid full whack and, as always when you pay at the turnstile, you get allocated the worst seats in the ground. I ended up sitting 4 rows from the front of the Ponty with a terrible view. Anyway, that's another gripe. My main concern is that we need to think beyond short term profit and loss for this game and GET THE GROUND FILLED. Or at least nearer to filled than recent games have managed.

Have you considered that as it's the last match we will have encroachment onto the pitch, as usual, despite club asking fans not to.
If we considerably increase gate stewarding will also have to increase in an attempt to keep fans off pitch.
Why can fans at other grounds manage to keep off the pitch?

Why does everyone think that reducing ticket prices will fill the ground.

It won't, it never has in the past. It's been tried and has failed on many occasions.

Questions can be raised about how much effort the club has put into profiling such offers. I reckon the club could do more to advertise it, and make sure everyone in the town knows.

But why on earth would the club charge £5 a ticket knowing full well that the gate won't be over 12,000. The club's just going to lose money and in the long term prices will continue to rise.

The only way that gates will increase is if we're consistently playing well at the top of the Championship with a chance of returning to the PL. Only then will we see regular gates beyond 14,000 I reckon.

When was the last time we charged a fiver for a league game? Let alone one of such importance as Saturday?

My point is how do you know barely 12000 will turn up when we've not charged a fiver entry this Millennium?

Bradford's approach to selling season tickets and the success of it shows what can be done.

Yeah but catchment area, need more turnstile staff, lose money, some other clubs charge more etc. blah blah blah some other tired excuse as to why we can't do it.

It doesn't matter what people suggest, the club won't do it and some people on here will back them charging up to 27 quid on the day to the hilt.

It was subsidised by the owners off the back of 2 Wembley finals if I remember right. Kind of makes it easier.

The club would have to take a massive gamble in order to make it happen.

    Okay maybe not a fiver.

We've charged lower ticket prices in the past though without the attendance changing much.

I remember a few years ago when we did the categorisation thing. There were 3 home games in a row where we charged a different price for each. Between £15 and £27 iirc. The difference in attendance was about 500 across the 3 matches.

Would love to be proved wrong, but I can't see it. It's a massive gamble for the club to take and isn't anywhere near guaranteed to be successful.

You need a long term strategic approach not an occasional half arsed gesture. With this approach you can succeed. Half heartedly doing summat every so often will never work. Don't bother if that's all you have got.

As I said earlier in this thread I went on a walk up basis to a premiership game a couple of months ago. It was cheaper than Oakwell. £27 quid is far too expensive. You are pricing yourself out of the market. It's simple economics.

Well we have just had one of those ourselves. I think Mr Cryne as done a damn fine job at Oakwell. Fan engagement and sensible pricing are not a hallmark of his stewardship.
