Heard John Mann MP a few months ago saying that Hillsborough was a bigger tragedy than the miners strike NO IT WASN'T !!!!!!! As sad as Hillsborough was........the battle of Orgreave and the miners strike had a much much bigger detrimental impact on the lives of people Its incalculable the loss the miners strike has had on mining communities throughout the country........men dying earlier than what they should have, no work, no prospects, nothing - for thousands and thousands of people
I don't think it's appropriate to compare the two events, one way or the other. Both deserve individual respect.
How can you possibly differentiate between two completely different disasters? Shouldn't even be trying it's incredibly disrespectful IMHO. My tragedy's worse than your tragedy? Come on Nudge you're better than that.
Ridiculous post - can't compare the two - both tragic events but for very different reasons. Still believe police have a lot to answer for during the strike and their role needs investigating
Deary me... You do realise that families of the Hillsborough victims have supported the inquiry into Orgreave on many occasions? We should support and celebrate their justice in return.
i think john mann will be referring to SYP,Their cover ups, falsifying statements and generally trying to make themselves blameless, all these were common to both orgreave and hillsborough.
You could argue by getting men out of the dangerous working conditions it actually increased life expectancy in the region.
**** me drunk. I really don't know what to say to that, or at least add to what other people have said. Maybe it was a comparison began by another, one which maybe shouldn't have been aired, although I can kind of see his point. You then went and added a rather insensitive opinion to the contrary, so actually your post is uncalled for and unjust. You didn't just post his comment, you went against it and typed in caps to further make your point. All said and done Nudger you've made yourself look like a bit of an insensitive pr1ck.
Lives were affected in different ways but are not comparable in any way shape or form. Many miners could not get work after orgreave leaving suspicions of a blacklist . Go to the Durham miners gala in July and you'll see and hear the outcome of the cover up by those still affected. First justice for Hillsborough now Its Orgreave and the Rotherham cover up.they have nowhere to hide now the momentum must be maintained , anyone who abuses their position is an affront to democracy.
