To avoid doubt, here is the list (hopefully I haven't missed any!): George Smith George Williams Jack Cowgill Aidy White Jak McCourt Brad Abbott Adam Hammill George Maris Most of these are fringe players so hopefully we won't have too much of a rebuild unlike previous years Who would you like to see stay? I'd put them into three groups: Definitely leaving: Cowgill, Abbott, Maris (based on lack of first team football) Definitely will be offered new deals: Hammill, Williams Hard to know if we will offer them a new deal: White (due to injury record), McCourt (hasn't played for first team but hasn't been given opportunity due to good form of others), Smith (has shown lots of promise but has not played much since November)
I may be wrong but I am sure it was on the official site a bit back that they were in talks with Hammill
I think only one of Smith or White will sign, and I reckon that'll be determined by whether they reckon White's injury problems can be solved with a good preseason or not. Would be a shame if young Judd were to leave though.
Hammill definitely and if he can get over his injury woes I'd like to see White resigned. George Williams too.
It's true! http://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/article/lewin-nyatanga-signs-new-contract-at-barnsley-2483789.aspx
Hammill and Williams are no-brainers for new deals. I like Aidy White but his injury record is concerning, although with Williams' ability to cover that side he may be worth a gamble. I'm not a fan of George Smith, so wouldn't be disappointed to see him leave along with Maris and Abbott. McCourt seems highly rated and the club have the option to extend his contract for a year. I'm sure Cowgill was out warming up with the first team on Saturday, so they must still think something of him.
Given the idea of developing players for resale value you also have to add all players entering the last yea of their contract onto the list as they have no value if they are. Allowed to enter down contracts. Last year would be > Scowen Winnall Hourihane So I'd expect at least 2 of the 3 to depart.
Williams, Smith, Cowgill, White and Hammill to be offered fresh terms. Hammill the only one to reject. I'd offer Scowen and Winnall a new deal too. Hourihane, no point. If he doesn't get a Championship club and leave for around 600/700k I'll be amazed.
I'd offer Smith, Williams and Hammill deals. Not seen McCourt much yet so who knows. What happened to Cowgill? Has that poor debut finished him? Abbott looked decent last season but it's not really happened for him since has it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
