I buy food all the time at German games, along with a few beers, merely because it's real food edible and top quality. You couldn't pay me enough to try any of the "food" on offer at Oakwell though.
SO queues only form at haif time? Do you miss part of the game or watch and risk it at Haif time? You were on about the ease of lasting 2 hours wiart snap. Just cos it aint an issue wi you it is with others Jack.
I don't think people get wound up as much any more. Well except the usual suspects. Most people just realise it for the joke that it is. How we can get something so simple wrong astounds me.
Just stop buying their ****. Simple as. Countless places to buy a pie/burger/chips in town. Take a flask if you want a hot drink, or get your ale in beforehand. If everyone stayed away, the club would soon do summat about the embarassment that is our catering at Oakwell. Says summat that a few lads volunteering in Redfearns can serve decent ale & snap in rapid time without much of a queue over two hours or so, when the 'professional' (oh aye!) company upstairs can't get it right.
I reckon a random fan with a Gas BBQ could probably do a better job. I am yet (after usually queuing into the second half) to end up with a burger that is still warm.
In all honesty, I think it has got a little better. The prices are slightly cheaper and I've not known them run out of food the few times I have bought food at half time this season (last season they had often run out before half time even started!) It still takes an age to get served though.
Last time I'm getting owt from Oakwell too. Like one poster said it's one of my matchday routines to get a balti pie at half time. But the Colchester match was the last straw. Went 3 minutes before half time just to wait til the second half to get served, by which time I was told there was none left. So I thought I ain't leaving empty handed, so I got a sausage roll at £2.50. Gave the jobsworth £3 and then she buggered off never to be seen again. I thought charming..
I haven't bought a pint since they stopped serving real beer. We go to the Dove before the game now and don't bother at half time. What sort of business does that to it's customers.
