Exactly and I'll tell you why it annoys me. Not because I'm playing a blame game but because this inquest was a chance to finalky find out exactly what happened that day and make sure it can never happen again and sadly because a jury has been pressure (via amongst other things the media) into recording a verdict that supporters had absolutely nothing at all to do with what happened and have instead concentrated on the police's (shocking) role we haven't learned anything and haven't stopped it from happening again. Even now there are ticketless fans going to fooelement, in fact this very thread started about Liverpool fans intentions of doing exactly that. Why? Because they have just been told that it is perfectly fine and didn't contribute one bit to a disaster. Perhaps if the jury had reached a honest verdict and admitted that yes ticketless fans DID contribute (everyone knows deep down that logically they must have in some small way) then perhaps some people would now be realising the implications of what they do and would make the correct decision not to. Likewise football still sadly has a large hooligan element who actually feel they do nothing wrong. If the inquest had rightly stated that the actions of fans in the past had contributed to the disaster by influencing how police saw and therefore treated football fans (we ALL know that the police treated fans back then was because of the actions of hooligans) then perhaps now we would have some people realising the implications of what they do and how they act. This was an opportunity to make football safer for fans and sadly it focused entirely on one side due to 20 odd years of growing pressure meaning that while some aspects have and will be made safer they have failed to highlight EVERYTHING that led to the disaster and have therefore failed to make it as safe as they had the opportunity to
It was though wasn't it? It was totally the wrong course of action and ultimately led to the disaster but that WAS the reason was it not?
You've obviously only ever read the recent papers after the latest verdict. Noone can be as clueless about what happened yet so **** sure about themselves as you seem to be.
Can I just ask exactly how you suggest the police should have stopped people from turning up outside the ground without tickets? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Your unbelievable Donny. I must have the same agenda as a jury and judges that listened to all the evidence. Of course you could keep protecting in your threads a police force who have apologised, face prosecutions for their actions. A police force who had previous in the miners strike. A police force that arrested a father trying to get his 14 year old daughter out of a den of middle aged Asian men. Maybe your right now have an agenda and thank fek its not same as yours and s/ts
You have admitted your agenda right there. At no point have either I, nor Donny Tyke defended the police
Yes you are. Your saying its not the police forces fault thst tbey couldn't plan, contain and prevent this disaster and I along with a jury and judge etc and along with identical incidents in the past are saying they could .
What the hierarchy of the police did was beyond despicable, noones denying that at all but as someone mentioned further up this thread, it seems to have gone completely the other way now where Liverpool fans arent attached to any blame or wrongdoing and are being portrayed as heros in most cases. They fekin were heroes , surely even you could not deny them running around with makeshift stretchers etc and giving first aid . I've had enough of this thread .my viewss have been vindicated you can spout all the contradictions you want.
You have evidently not even read what I have written or you are deliberately putting your own mental slant on it due to your agenda
You always seem to come up with that excuse I notice in other threads. My agendas same as the jury who actually read the evidence. Yours is more sinister or just same as most of your threads contradictory.
Anyone who knows me will confirm that I have massive issues with the police's role in the miners strike. I wouldn't try to pretend that the pickets were all angels and completely blameless though. Far from it. Likewise my negativity towards the police hasn't stopped me from being objective about Hillsborough. Someone blinkered with my views would happily lay 100% of the blame at the police's door.
