Still surprised that neither Ian Chandler or Tony Rees didn't manage it...

A great achievement for Sam to succeed where players like Ward, Hirst, Currie, Fjortoft, Hendrie, Aylott, Geddis and Parker all failed.

God was the best, in my opinion, no one comes close.
But Sam is the first striker since Brian Joicey to reach that elusive figure.

In my years of watching us, Sam is only the third striker to achieve this (after Mick Butler & Brian Joicey).

I saw Butler but was too young to remember it properly so I count him as only the second I've seen. Great achievement.

Weird that in the most successful period in our history 76 to present we have lacked a 20 goal a season striker whereas in the previous 40 years when we were less successful we had much more consistent scorers.

Just finished an article for WSB about it. Been waiting for Sam to do it so I could finish it thought I was going to have to scrap it.

I was talking to someone after the match who was saying Winnall gave them the first goal his first touch is awful. They never mentioned his 2 goals or the 20 goals he has scored this season. At times I think to myself his it me or them that live on a different planet.

I was sitting in front of some bloke who, inside the first 15 minutes, had slated Winnall, Hourihane, Mawson and Brownhill.
I know we had a dodgy start to the game but some people are on their backs so fast you'd never believe we'd just put together probably the best run of form in the club's entire history.
Luckily the ones singing and urging them on made more of an impact than the ones sniping.

It was Sheffield Star's Regional Awards. They claim it's done before end of season as players aren't easily available after as many go on holiday.

Conor Hourihane took home the Reds’ player of the year prize for the second successive year.

I love him. Have done from the first moment I saw him in a 0-1 defeat to Crawley. We missed him massively last season, just as we missed Hourihane massively this season (where we lost 6 of those 8 successive league games).

Conor has 25 goals for us. In two seasons, from midfield. I bet he's assisted just as many, if not more.

It's the third division which has to be taken into account when assessing these types of things. But we spent what, less than half a million for the pair of them?

Didn't we once pay summat similar for Liam Dickinson?

Amazing considering Sam was left playing up front alone or out wide for a large portion of the early season lets not forget.

    Each to their own.
Personally, I'd rather sing the praises of our players, especially the more talented ones like Sam.
