Not sure if this has been mentioned yet but what was Winnall playing at rolling around on the floor like he'd be shot? Only to get straight back up as soon as the ref awarded the penalty! This could have cost us for a few reason - 1. One the ref probably should have stopped the game for a head injury - We're lucky he didnt! 2. Winnall should have been straight back up ready for Fletchers cross had he not been brought down. 3. After the ref blows up for the pen Hourihane is seen waving the physio away to stop him coming on to treat Winnall.. had Sam been treated he wouldn't have been on the field to take the penalty. All ifs and buts had scenario 1 or 3 happened we could have been looking at a different game!
I noticed how quickly he went from looking like he was in a bed ready to sleep, to showing us his best Usain Bolt impression.
I'm talking about a moment in our game that could easily have happened. Had Hourihane not seen the physio Winnall would not have taken that penalty.
We could break every 90 minutes up of every game into scenarios, what's the point. If the ball hadn't struck our players arm and then fell nicely for Will Grigg, would Wigan have scored? I'm happy to stay with what actually happened rather than ifs and buts. Big shout for Sam, and indeed the whole team, for sticking with it for the first 20-25 minutes and turning the game completely on its head and some more besides.
Suspect it was because his head just collided with the keeper's knee. It can take a short while to get over such a collision, without the need for help from a physio. I think if you watch the replay a couple of the Wigan players think the ref will stop it and so delay a fraction of a second, leading to us winning the ball back and having another attack from which we get the penalty. Brilliant match awareness Sam, full marks
I'm happy to stay with that too. But I still think he got lucky as he clearly wasn't as injured as he was making out.
What if Sam's Dad had put a bag on it that night, or Mrs W had a headache. The match could have turned out very different.
In your opinion of course. You don't know for sure the knock didn't temporarily incapacitate Sam for a short while. Of course only Sam knows.
Why, for over-reacting to a foul. I didn't see him strike any body or grab someone by the throat or anything like that.
What? Are we not allowed to take about football on here anymore? Football fans, pundits, pros all over the world talk about big moments in matches after every game. Fouls that wernt given, offsides, chances missed, blocks made. Anyone could say yeah but that didn't happen so why are you talking about it? People get paid thousands of pounds to talk about the if and buts of football, what did happen and what didn't happen, what should have happened. I mention something on here that could very well have happened and get told to grow up and that I'm not enjoying the moment.
Absolutely right...Gally pays me 30k a year to bring my knowledge and sense of fair play to this board...and I'm not giving that up for anyone!!
Why criticise a bloke who scored 2 goals yesterday, over 20 in a season (since Brian Joicey). You, whilst supporting a winning team seem to have the mentality of a loser. There are no LOSERS at Oakwell.
