In the dictionary if you look for the word 'frustrating' you'll see a photo of Adam Hammill. I love Adam. And I love Sam. I could reel off all their weaknesses too, but I love them because their strengths at this level are exceptional. I always thought Bergkamp was a bit weak in the air... Ahem.
What's up? You can't seriously tell me he's a skilful, technical footballer? Fletcher looks 5 times more dangerous every game they play together.
He's scored 22 goals. What more do you want in a league 1 footballer? If he could do all these other things, he wouldn't be playing for us. I just hope he finishes the season on about 28 goals, which will probably mean we're in the Championship.
Right, so you clearly think i'm wrong with my post on Sam, so i'm curious to hear what you think his weaknesses are mate. I bet their the same as mine and I also never said he wasn't any good. He has to be, he has 20+ goals.
I don't want any more from him, i'm just stating what frustrates me about him. If no-one wanted to work on their weaknesses then the likes of Vardy et al wouldn't be where they are. I love him and want him to stay for many years, i'm just saying sometimes he frustrates the life out of me. As do others sometimes.
I know what you mean, it's just that I believe in league 1 any player who managed to iron out those "weaknesses" would just gravitate up the ladder, to be replaced by someone else with the same weaknesses. I think any player at our level (for the time being) is bound to be frustrating, that's the standard we're currently at.
I was on similar lines earlier. But another moncur. But can't think who I am thinking off.... * edit. After googling John Moncur. Who is now about 50. It's been a long day
Yeah I do understand, like you say they wouldn't be here if they were anywhere near perfect but I just look at, for example Bradshaw and think if he were in our team this year he would of had the golden boot sewn up about a month back because he has more to his game.
I really don't know enough about other teams' players to comment, as I only see them once a year, if that. I think Sam's done well and if he were to stay I'd be happy, if we were in League 1. If we were in the Championship I'd still like to see what he could do - some players (you quoted Jamie Vardy, for example) seem to be able to raise their level. Either way, I hope he's still here next season.
As I've stated, no interest in discussing any perceived weaknesses of our top scoring striker, the first in my 34 years to knock 20 goals in during a season. Others can do as they please. The point of my response, the reason I replied was simple - I have seen **** loads of strikers over the years who aren't a patch on Sam and couldn't score in a brothel. Id have a poorly brain to want to find fault with him. I'm a supporter not a pundit or expert. Each to their own
I'm not knocking him, I want the best for him as I do every single one of the lads that put our shirt on. Like I said before he just frustrates me sometimes just like any other player. I want him to stay and bang in another 20 next year whichever division we find ourselves in. I just want him to sometimes tidy up his passing and he would look so much better. Although he might leave if he does that soo.....
Please note Winnall's terrible touch outside the box and poor contribution to Hammill's goal after 1 min 39 seconds http://youtu.be/8jfCv7j_09s
