It's an absolute disgrace that some Barnsley fans might now be locked out, with vast swathes of empty red seats on show. The club need to grow a pair and stand up to SYP. Take it to the FL, file a formal complaint or summat. Stand up and bloody FIGHT, ffs.
Where shutting our own fans out and then making it all ticket to prevent them form going in the empty away end.
FA CUP 2008 vs Chelsea at home. Saturday tea time and live on bbc all four stands sold out cracking atmosphere no trouble and even a celebratory pitch invasion So whats changed since then?
Hmmm, wonder if we'll be seeing a 60 yard exclusion zone tomorrow when Wednesday play Brighton. Double standards, much, SYP?
That celebratory pitch invasion is part of the problem. There were actually 2 invasions, 1 a few minutes b4 the end when a load of dicks thought the match had ended and wanted to be first on. To my memory we were warned to future conduct over that. I know many on here think it's a laugh, this strange addiction to running on grass, but sadly we are making SYP's job easy for them and playing into their hands, reaping what we've sown.
its actually funny in a way because the club keep trying to con us into thinking we can be a big championship club and keep bigging us up but realy were not we cant sell our own stadium out because SYP say we cant which the HQ is in sheffield so probably full of wednesday and blades fans if we cant control our own ticket sales how the hell are we going to get anywhere
Absolutely disgraceful. Not even a half good reason has been given for this. Well actually, we know the reason. SYP hold a serious grudge against the club and can't be trusted to do their job properly on the day. 14,000-15,000 home fans in a stadium which holds 23,000. All because these of these chumps.
1) Are we going to do anything about being forced to double the away following to stop it becoming all ticket, now that it has been? 2) How come many of the biggest clubs in the country with the biggest crowds can have just a line of stewards for segregation but to us a different stand isn't enough? 3) Why can't we split the north stand? That's what it was built for. Got to be annoying to our board that the police have so much say in how we run our business, but it would be nice to hear Mansford explaining the reasoning.
It'll be down to costs. There'll be an incremental cost associated with policing closer segregation, probably making it not worthwhile to Barnsley FC. After all, SYP have to find money from somewhere to pay their legal bills and compensation claims, not to mention junkets to Cos.
Seems to me BFC haven't had any say in it. And not even asked if they would be prepared for higher contributions. It just seems all one sided this.
Is this definitely true, because I'm finding it hard to believe? Shutting the north side of the west stand because it's too close to a few Walsall fans? Let's just go the whole hog and play it behind closed doors.
Put the Walsall fans in the middle of the North stand ( behind the goals) rather than one end and leave a buffer either side....Simples.
Given there's been a pitch invasion every season since somewhat debunked that theory. It's about money.
Mate at work says that SWFC have sold bottom half of Leppings Lane to home fans and Brighton are in top. SYP love Sheffield.
It'll be down to costs, or number of SYP police available on a Saturday tea time / evening. Much easier to police a North Stand / East Stand segregation, than to have to double their efforts and manpower to keep apart a North Stand / West Stand.
Why not just give us the Ponty and walsall the away end and have a whole pitch between both sets of fans - thats easier still! or even better play the game behind closed doors and lets all watch it on sky We know that the fowls wont have the same issue at Hillsborough There is a fair degree of segregation anyway between the North and West stands - I just dont see the problem
