Is it that your opinions are in the minority or that you purposely post opposite to what people think. I dont see how its possible to post a minority report every week. Its impossible that your thoughts could be in the minority all the time, unless they arn't actually your thoughts and just a load of drivel to get a reaction
Not going into detail, 'cos frankly I can't be arsed, but I also came away thinking Scowen was one of quite a few players that would have deserved MotM today. Very strong performance at RB. Opinions, eh?
Why where have I put that I've read your report?....I did stop reading at that point but I have read them on occasion but I'll be honest I find them too analytical and predictable but that's my own personal opinion but I do admit that this board needs posters like yourself.
It's not black and white is it. Can it not be that Lalkovic played well (in the context of Walsall's display and the result), but that Scowen dealt with him well too? The chance created for Bradshaw at the end of the first half was the first time Lalkovic got past Scowen. Bradshaw should have scored, and it would have had a big impact on the outcome of the game if he had, given we scored minutes later. Incidentally, from play down Lalkovic's side of the pitch (should he have been helping out full back?) He also beat Scowen a couple of times in the 2nd half, but didn't create a clear cut chance from it. Good defending contributed to that. But you're ignoring many occasions when Scowen - a midfielder playing out of position - bossed his opponent, standing up to him well, putting in strong challenges, and doing a job for his team. A Winger that has a full back "on toast" as you describe, is one that beats the full back more often than not, and probably creates a number of chances. That certainly wasn't Lalkovic today.
I must confess that I am amazed by the reaction as I did not think that it would be a minority report this week. I thought that everyone saw what I was seeing. I am genuinely shocked. I tell you what you do though if you really do not want to see your opinions challenged, if you really believe that everyone should think in exactly the same way. You should ignore me, never read me again, never comment on what I post. That is what you should do. I have been a supporter of Barnsley Football Club for over 50 years. I think that I have earned the right to have an opinion, don't you?
I thought Scowen played well, save for one poor headed clearance which Walsall failed to take advantage of. Yes, Lalkovic did him for pace in the first half and set up a chance for Bradshaw, but it wasn't a mistake or lack of effort, he just beat him for pace. He outfoxed him second half once in particular, great feet by Lalkovic and again Walsall spurned the opening. It was their only joy, attacking Scowen. I'll give you that. I can see your point. But it came about through general play, one player beating another a couple of times. Your words would have it appear that Scowen was a weakness. I can't accept that opinion, sorry. He was bang on for the majority. The whole lot of them were to be fair. Davies' save first half was summat else. Brownhill and Hourihane constantly robbed them and broke out. It was a bloody fine night. Nowt to criticise at all, not for me.
You appear to pick one example when Scowen got beaten. He did get beaten, it happens in football. What about all the dozens of other examples where he didn't get beaten? I though he had a great game. When 2 good teams play against each other, both sides will have chances, either from their own good play or through mistakes by the opposition. Today was a highly entertaining game, 2 good sides, a great atmosphere, a great win. I really can't find anything to criticise at all, if I'm honest. Well, apart from the linesman in front of the east stand.
The job of a winger defensively is to make sure that the full back is not outnumbered by opposition winger and full back, but it is the primary job of the full back to defend against the winger. But I am not concerned in this discussion whether Lalkovic performed adequately defensively. I made the point that he had Scowen on toast, and I stand by that remark. If you insist that Lalkovic was rubbish defensively, then I have no issue with that because honestly, I did not notice. But if you think that Isgrove should have been covering for Scowen when Scowen was struggling, then you may have a point. Is that what your second point is all about?
Walsall have scored 71 league goals, third most in the division, they have the best away record in the division. We won 3-0, it ought to have been a victory with an even greater margin. Well played, Josh Scowen. Well played the lot of em.
I tell you what you do though if you really do not want to see your opinions challenged, if you really believe that everyone should think in exactly the same way. You should ignore me, never read me again, never comment on what I post. That is what you should do. Agreed. First time for everything. Just wonder if in that atmosphere, with everyone jumping, you sit with a furrowed brow, head in hands, wondering what to moan about? Just my opinion of course.
Poor analysis dressed up with long winded sentences in an attempt to appear analytical and intellectual. That's how most of these reports come across to me. The OP is, without doubt, entitled to,his opinion. As is anyone else as long as they attend the matches.
What makes you think that you can judge me as a person, that you know my character, just because you disagree with something that I have written on here. I find it really strange that posters cannot challenge ideas and opinions without finding a need to find fault with the character of the person behind those ideas. What makes you believe that it is acceptable to say things to me on a public forum that you would not say to me, as a stranger, if we met face to face.
