    I voted for Alfie

been my favourite player this season, cool under pressure, scores goals (for a centre back), plays excellent 30-yard passes and comes out of defence with the ball taking opponents out of the game. His partnership with Marc Roberts is fantastic.

Can anyone name a better centre back since De Zeeuw?

Hope we can keep hold of him, I reckon there's probably been approaches for him already.

Alfie had some stick on this place in the early days and it was undeserved. People on here have very short memories. Shame on those of you who weren't prepared to show patience.
The lad is sheer and utter class. Powerful on the ground and in the air. Skilful on the ball with his distribution and tackling. He is outstanding and in my view he is absolutely prem potential. I know fck all about anything but I know about football. If Alfie Mawson continues with his progression he will play for England. Hooefully whilst he's with us. The lad is a credit to our club. The way he's enbraced the community and the people is testimony to his character and upbringing.
If you ever hear folk having a go a go at modern day footballers (quite rightly) then tell them to look at our Alfie as a contrast. The model pro and the true spirit of the game.
    Alfie Mawson ......BFC legend.

Bold maybe but a statement I wouldn't have posted if I didn't think it was true. I truly am thick with my one, nay half a brain cell, but I do know football. No ****. Like all of us I knew Stones would Go on and play in the prem and for England. I think Alfie is just as good but in different ways. He reminds me of Beckenbauer . People will say I'm crazy but I'm not.....in this regard. His physique, power in the air, distribution, ability to beat a man with a dribble, reading of the game, free kicks. He is missing just one thing. Pace. Apart from that we have a wonderful human being in this group, amongst what seems to be a group of wonderful human beings.

I didn't see every game Stones played for us but every game I saw, he played at right back. Or is my memory playing tricks on me?

Alfie is class, on and off the field. He put me in mind of 'Chester' from the first time I saw him play for us. Let's hope that we are getting Alfie and Marc Roberts tied down, contract-wise. We need to be building the team around them.

After the game yesterday and after the Herbert's and the family!!!!! Had left the field, Alfie took off his shirt and went over to a young lad in the crowd and handed it over. Just a small gesture but massive to the lad and to me seeing it so I'd just like to pass it on. Won't have even thought about it but no credit would have been given to him.
