Sunday night questions. Just would like to see what people thought of these few points. How good do you think Mawson could become? Do you think he's good enough for the Championship yet? Top half of the champ club? Do you think the club need to do anything to keep him? If Barnsley go up do you think they should offer him a long term contract? 22 year old, third trip to Wembley. Getting the big games in early, Good signs surely?
There is no reason why, if he keeps progressing, that he can't play in the premier league. Sideshow Bob managed it at Chelsea so why can't Mawson. Yes I think he's good enough for the championship. If we go up he will stay with us in my opinion. If we don't we might struggle.
I think he could be. He seems to be getting the errors out of his game. I actually think Roberts is a better prospect. Despite him been a bit older I think he's got more room for improvement
I said roughly two months ago that Mawson and Hourihane are the only two in our team i'm confident would successfully make the step up if we got promoted. I stand by that as he's a class act. Others have a great chance too but i'd have question marks about them.
We don't call him Bobby Mawson for nowt. He's the new Ian Evans. Though Robbo is better, he's the new Mick McCarthy.
Mawson will be in the PL within 3 years. By far and away the most potential of our current squad, the kid is a rolls royce. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Mawson good enough for Premier League football at some point. Has a touch of class, but his partner at Centre Half just as important. As others have said Mawson - Roberts = Evans - McCarthy, and to a degree De Zeeuw and Davis. If we go up I'd offer an extended contract as you say. They'll add a release clause I'm sure if anyone comes knocking. Peter Beagrie made a really good observation on Thursday at Walsall which I caught when watching the recording the following day. He highlighted our partnerships all over the pitch. We've got defenders who can defend and play, protected by a midfield that helps out as well as playing a creative game. And no coincidence our keeper looks confident. They've bred confidence in each other since Christmas. Mawson is a class act. Sent from my SM-T710 using Tapatalk
He'll play in the premier league at some point in his career. Still got another 10+ years for improvement. Already looks well beyond his years.
Benefitted immensely from playing with Kevin Long. Looks fitted and more committed than before Christmas and if you add that to great natural ability it's hard to see anything but progressing to the Championship then onto the Premiershit. You can see him playing for Southampton confident on the ball and good at playing out from the back.
Took a while to adjust, as did most of em, but he looks one of the most likely to step up to the next level and thrive. Only guesswork on our part though. I hope we get to find out.
