Don't understand people not going unless on holiday to be honest. The reward for winning this one is far greater than any jpt triumph
Hotels and trains have worked out more expensive and match tickets too . And short notice to sort and book
That's hardly a fair comparison , Its like saying if our football team were Ardsley and saying the population of ardsley when in fact the support base would have been all of barnsley. They have support from dense populated areas of south east London such as Newham, BermondseyAreas
its like if we were playing at Hillsborough a few miles down the road which would remove time and to some extent money constraints we would be taking thousands more
Anyone thought that the 'floating voter -day tripper'has decided to support Wednesday as their day out on Saturday ? Lots of people round me support Wednesday and I suppose their mates might go with them . Had Wednesday not got to playoffs , maybe we'd have been at thirty thousand tickets now ? Just a thought
It's crazy that stat though as it doesn't include any of the barnsley districts... if it did the barnsley met is 229,000.
1) We finished the season with a really good influx of away games including a South Yorkshire derby, match at second in league, match at the league champions, match at third in the league and now a second Wembley trip in no time at all. 2) It's a bank holiday weekend. People will have already made other plans or be going away shortly. 3) Plenty have problems with who we are playing. 4) Club wanted season pass money three months before the season starts. 5) New replica shirts coming out soon. Plenty of parents will be forking out for their kids on that. People can spend how they want. We look like we will crack 20,000 which I reckon is a great turn out to more than double our usual home fans following.
We're going to take 20,000+ supporters to Wembley, six weeks after taking 20,000+ to Wembley. 350 mile round trip. A minimum £100 spend I would have thought. Inbetween many folk forking out for dem blades away, Wigan away, playoff semi finals, season tickets for next season, family holidays, sex toys... 57 mile round trip for Millwall, wasn't much further for Oxford. This isn't Millwall's second trip in two months. It will be considerably cheaper too. They can get up on the day of the game and it feel like a normal matchday. It'd be like holding the final at Hillsborough or Elland Road for us. I've got a ticket, the last couple of months has hit me hard in the pocket. Had to use holidays from work again. It's not ideal. But I wouldn't miss this for the world and I'm glad I have a missus who gets that. If others can't get, who am I to judge? And do I give a **** if we have 20,000 or 22,000 there? Do I chuff. Do I care that Millwall are going to have 40,000 there? Not at all. More the merrier. Oxford had 10,000 more than we had there, we still won and still made ourselves heard/proud. Bring it on. Three more days at work, can't wait. You Reds n that.
Doubt that for 2 reasons 1 Wendy are massive and they will sell out just to Season ticket holders so there wont be any floating 2 If I was a floating fan who watched both us and the fowls from time to time Id make a weekend of it and go to both
What about actual Wednesday fans who are from Barnsley and tagged along to jpt i know of 2 who did that.
That's exactly what I meant , also just people that tagg along with pals who just whatch the football and fans of neither so chose Wednesday , if they had not been there they'd have watched us , after all 10000 at oakwell so we've a lot of happy clappers
20,000 is a brilliant turnout considering all the circumstances. i don't get why people are disappointed with it. Having fewer fans than the opposition is also a good omen. We've beaten Swansea and Oxford who both had probably 15,000 fans more than us whereas we matched Ipswich and Cardiff for tickets sales and lost both. This obsession with tickets being sold has absolutely no bearing on the result of the match - ask Liverpool and Seville.
