    Where does this one rank? Seen some great teams in 40 years of watching Barnsley

    Clarke's 78-79
    Hunter's 81-82
    Wilson's 96-97
    Bassett's 99-00
    Ritchie's possibly - 05-06

    and now this one.

    Bassett's still my favourite one just - concede 2 but score 5. It took us to Wembley for the first time and was really unlucky in the final. This has been an incredible season but that team just pips it for me

    Toss up between Clarke & Hunter. Personally view them as the same team/era.

    Not sure if it's my age but that was a golden era. Great teams, terrific following (esp. away), miles better atmosphere.

    I also think either of those teams would have beaten Danny's team in a play-off

    Too young to remember the 80's sides but Bassetts was the best I've seen, better than the side that went up. The one I connected most with though was the 05/06 side, players who really cared about the club.

    For me, it's:-
    1) Hunter's 81-82;
    2) Wilson's 96-97;
    3) Bassett's 99-00;
    4) The current one;
    5) Ritchie's 05-06;
    6) Clarke's 78-79.

    It has to be Wilson's. They are the only team in our history to achieve promotion to the top division. In my view a no brainer.

    There is also another team. The one of the second half of the Prem season. Or are we including that with the promoted team? I'd have to say the side that included Ward, Fjortoft etc was the strongest we've ever had. Fleetingly.

    Thinking promoted team but you're right that second half team was much better

    Seconded, you had to be there to appreciate them. The followings were something else.

    I'd say this one is stronger than the team we had when we were last promoted.

    Hunter's team

    for me. Bags of skill (Glavin, Barrowclough, Parker etc), rock solid in defence (McCarthy, Evans, Joyce etc), and 2 excellent keepers (Horn, Pierce).

    Great team.

    Agree with that as well. Thinking about the current team and the 81 side there arnt too many of this team I would put in the 81 side. Possibly Davies is the only one.
    I'd put most of them in the Ritchie side though
