Hope he's enjoying his time in Everton's development squad, rather than making two appearances at the National Stadium, which I doubt he will ever do.
I see him in the gym near work (in Donny) every so often so I assume he's stayed local? I reckon he'll make a decent championship player, possibly even low prem but I think he needs to go out on loan next season.
The question might have been asked about Lee Johnson. I struggled to see at the time why you would pass up the opportunity to lead your team out at Wembley.
Think most football players would rather play meaningful football. He chose cash over career which is a choice he was entitled to make. I'm sure now though he's been a little disapointed at missing out on being part of something special.
Can't blame him for wanting to better himself, certainly financially. And I don't remember Stonesy playing much (if at all) in his first year at Everton.
Holgate is a young lad who was badly advised by his agent. It probably also suited us to get some wedge in, when the Stones money didn't materialise. Very weird post.
I wonder how many years the likes of Lloyd Isgrove and Ashley Fletcher have been chasing the dream of playing for their parent club on a regular basis. And who knows, one day they might do. But they've come out on loan to gain that experience elsewhere, and there's no doubting that Holgate will do the same next season, especially if Everton get a big manager in charge like they're being linked with. He might get his chance to play at Wembley. The same could be said for John Stones. He plays there 4 or 5 times a year now. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
He's from near where I live in Donny. No idea if he still lives this way on. He came back the other week to attend and support the presentation evening of his old boys team. I don't think anybody can accuse him of doing anything wrong. He was given a massive opportunity which one bad tackle might have meant never came along again. He might be everton's future, he might be destined for lower league loans. Either way, going to that club could never be an error for him.
from west end I believe, ex don valley ( my old alma mata) my cousins hubby used to play footy with his dad, tony, a half decent defender himself so our clive says
