Joking aside, it's not a foregone conclusion for either team but the way the Wednesday fans are going on you would think they were just waiting for the Champions League draw rather than the kick off to a play off match. I recorded to watch this morning but that Look North feature last night showed how confident they are but I'm getting heartily sick of this WAWAW rubbish. Everyone seems to be saying it (except Blades fans of course). They have every right to be confident but their arrogance borders on nausea. It's a case of when, not if, they go up at the end of today's proceedings. I bet I'm not the only one who hopes that they fail, although I have no love for Hull City. There's an element of Wednesdayitis to our support as well, but I think it is a bit more under-stated. It was brilliant to hear the dignified, low-key interviews with Patrick Cryne and Ben Mansford on yesterday's feature and I like that approach. Plenty will shout from the roof tops but I'd rather go there calm and confident, based on our winning habit just lately, especially away from home. I've never known a season like this one for the amount of success we have had on the road so there is no reason why we can't continue that tomorrow. It won't be easy but how sweet it would be to go to Hillsborough next season.....and Elland Road, and St James Park, and......
I don't mind who wins. Two Yorkshire clubs and i'd be happy for either. A close match I think. Wednesday have more flair nut Hull are a more tight knit team.
I've heard people say it would be good economically for the area if Wednesday are promoted - I don't see how it would make any difference. All the money goes to players, agents and other clubs. There's teams who have gone up over the last few years (when the money became ridiculous) who were in desperate need of modernising their infrastructure who did nothing but put all the money back into football. You could build a new stadium for a relatively small proportion of the Premier League money, and practically for free if status is retained for a few years, yet clubs only ever shell out for a lick of paint, if that. Hillsborough in particular is one of the standout candidates for modernisation, I work with a few of their fans who generally agree that apart from the good atmosphere when they are winning, it's otherwise a pretty depressing place to go, but if they went up would they sort the place out and thus create a load of jobs for building contractors allowing money to filter down into the local economy? Will they ch*ff.
i wish wednesday good luck this aft and hope they get promotion, quickly followed by us tomorrow, this would make it a great weekend for south yorks, its not often we have much to shout about so fingers crossed. knobhead fans are at every club and i for one do not allow these to get in the way of the good ones.
Well Oakwell certainly needs a lick of paint just about everywhere I would say. Passed the ground yesterday and the state of the paint on that West Stand wall is shocking. Hopefully once this new pitch is laid the painters will be in. Along with the scoreboard installers
Large away followings spending money in Sheffield. A few boozers might do well out of it but I can't see how anyone else would really benefit, other than Wednesday of course.
Won't it be like the Sheffield Tram system was supposed to be a benefit to the whole of South Yorkshire. Er........not sure about that.
